Job description

Position Overview

The Healing Mind and Soul Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our team on a part-time basis. This role offers the unique opportunity to provide therapeutic services remotely, helping children with developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. Ideal candidates will have a deep commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of youth and families in a flexible, supportive environment.

About the Organization

Located in Elgin, Illinois, the Healing Mind and Soul Center is a beacon of hope for families navigating the challenges associated with developmental and intellectual disabilities. We specialize in Comprehensive Youth & Family Support Services, ensuring that primary caregivers receive the assistance they need to raise their children successfully. Our approach is founded on empathy, collaboration, and empowerment, striving to create positive outcomes for families across the state.

Work Environment

This position is remote, allowing you to conduct therapy sessions from the comfort of your home while still being part of a dynamic outpatient office environment. Collaboration with colleagues and interdisciplinary teams occurs through digital platforms, making it essential to have reliable technology and a passion for remote communication. Our organization places a high value on work-life balance, making this an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking flexible working hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide both individual and group therapy sessions remotely, ensuring accessibility and comfort for the children and families you support.
  • Conduct therapy with a focus on anger management, coping strategies, and social skills, aiming to significantly reduce high-risk behaviors such as self-injury and physical aggression.
  • Enhance the decision-making abilities of youth and their caregivers, guiding them through in-home behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Child Family Treatment Team and cross-disciplinary professionals, creating a unified support system for families.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation including intake forms, treatment plans, and progress notes within designated time frames.
  • Participate in monthly professional meetings to discuss client progress and submit recommendations for additional resources or strategies.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on supporting children aged 3-20 who face developmental and intellectual disabilities (I/DD). You will work closely with their families to address a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges, fostering an environment of trust and support. Your contributions will play a critical role in enhancing the quality of life for these children and their families.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field is required.
  • An active and unrestricted LMFT license is essential in order to provide therapeutic services legally.
  • Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week, primarily during after-school hours of 4-7 pm, with some weekend flexibility being an asset.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience delivering positive behavior support methodologies.
  • Prior work with children between the ages of 3 and 20, particularly those with I/DD, is highly valued.
  • A valid driver’s license and a registered vehicle are necessary for potential travel to provide in-home services.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
Compensation and Benefits

The Healing Mind and Soul Center offers a competitive salary ranging from $60,000 to $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. In addition to a rewarding compensation package, we provide various benefits to support your professional and personal well-being:

  • A dynamic and inclusive work environment.
  • Ongoing professional growth opportunities and job-related training.
  • Comprehensive group health insurance coverage.
  • Annual paid time off to support your work-life balance.
  • Short and long-term disability insurance for financial peace of mind.
  • A 401K plan to help you prepare for your future.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Healing Mind and Soul Center, we believe in nurturing our team’s professional development. We encourage participation in training programs, workshops, and conferences that enhance both clinical skills and personal growth. As we expand our services and outreach, opportunities for increased responsibility and leadership roles will be available for those looking to advance their careers.
