Job description

The Higher Education Assistance Group, Inc. (HEAG) is actively seeking talented System Analysts to join our consulting roster. We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience as both a Director of Financial Aid, and a Systems Administrator for one of the following Financial Aid Management systems: Ellucian Banner or Colleague, PowerFAIDS, PeopleSoft, Workday, Jenzabar or JFA. Consultants may be assigned to internal training projects or external client work. Assignments may be long or short term, full or part time. Most assignments will be remote, but priority will be given to candidates who can travel.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualities:

  • In-depth understanding of at least one of the Financial Aid Management Systems to include:
    • FA System programming, data analysis, testing, workflow, reporting, data integration, and all system level processes related to file imports and exports, student communications, awarding, verification, SAP, disbursement, withdrawal, R2T4 and reconciliation processes.
    • Knowledge of common integration, imaging, CRM, and/or reporting tools such as Informer, Argos, SQL, Web Focus, Blackbaud, Slate, Salesforce, Campus Logic, or similar tools
    • Federal and state regulations
    • COD system workflow, files, reports and processes
    • ED Express system workflow, files, reports and processes
    • NSLDS system workflow, files, reports and processes
    • ED Connect
    • Batch transactions
  • Data analysis capabilities
    • Ability to analyze testing outcomes to determine additional programming needs
    • Ability to identify chronological order of transactions and functions
    • Ability to identify compliance risks and develop action plans for resolution
    • Ability to effectively communicate needs and changes to client
  • Problem solving skills
    • Understand how to build, execute and analyze data and transactions
    • Ability to identify and catalog any discrepancies that result from data research
    • Communicate needs and timeline for resolution of errors

    • Track/log all programming changes, testing outcomes and resolutions
