Position Description: Energy Specialist

As an Energy Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering a high-quality customer experience as part of an innovative program. You will be responsible for verifying that window heat pumps are properly sized, installed, and operating safely and efficiently while ensuring customers are satisfied throughout every stage of the installation process.

This position combines technical field inspections with hands-on equipment management and customer support. You'll maintain the program's inventory of window heat pumps, coordinate equipment repairs and replacements, perform post-installation quality assurance inspections, and serve as a trusted resource for customers by answering questions, resolving concerns, and ensuring every installation meets program quality standards. Working closely with contractors, program staff, and utility partners, you'll help ensure the successful delivery of a first-of-its-kind program that improves comfort, energy efficiency, and customer confidence.

Position Qualifications:

The position requires high client satisfaction and going out of the way to be helpful, respectful, approachable and team-oriented while building strong and positive working relationships. Candidates must be receptive to feedback, willing to learn and embrace continuous improvement. Additional qualifications include:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to inspect mechanical equipment and identify installation issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions.
  • Comfortable communicating technical information to homeowners.
  • Proficient with tablets, mobile applications, and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the service territory.
  • Previous experience working in a virtual environment is helpful but not required.

Preferred Skills/Experience: 

  • Experience with HVAC, heat pumps, energy efficiency, weatherization, home performance, or residential construction.
  • Experience performing field inspections, quality assurance, commissioning, or equipment troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with window heat pumps, mini-splits, or residential HVAC systems preferred.
  • Experience working directly with homeowners and contractors.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification, BPI Certification, HVAC licensure, or equivalent technical credentials are a plus.
  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent field experience preferred.

  • Evergreen will provide a computer (programs for the position included in the computer setup), two monitors, a monitor stand, speakers, a webcam, a docking station, a wireless keyboard and mouse and a surge suppressor.
  • We are a fully remote telecommuting organization. This position offers a significant amount of flexibility in line with meeting responsibilities. Some evening and early morning meetings and events may occasionally be necessary.
  • Required location: Must be located in Massachusetts with preference on Western MA.
