What is a Remote Optum LPN?

A Remote Optum LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) is a nursing professional who works for Optum, a healthcare services company, providing patient care and support remotely rather than in traditional clinical settings. Their responsibilities often include telephonic patient outreach, coordination of care, health assessments, and providing education to patients, typically from a home office. Remote Optum LPNs collaborate with other healthcare professionals to help manage chronic conditions, support care plans, and ensure patients receive the appropriate care and resources. This role requires strong communication skills, comfort with technology, and an active LPN license.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Optum LPN?

To thrive as a Remote Optum LPN, you need a valid LPN license, strong clinical assessment abilities, and experience in patient care. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and remote monitoring tools is typically required. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills are essential for effectively supporting patients and collaborating with remote teams. These competencies ensure high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient remote healthcare delivery.

What are the biggest challenges faced by Remote Optum LPNs, and how can they be managed?

One of the main challenges for Remote Optum LPNs is adapting to a virtual care environment, which requires strong communication skills and the ability to assess patients without in-person interaction. Managing multiple digital tools and adhering to privacy standards can also be demanding. Staying organized, proactively reaching out to team members, and participating in ongoing training can help overcome these challenges and contribute to successful patient care from a remote setting.

As a fully remote organization, we embrace flexibility and adaptability in our work culture. The outpatient office setting allows for an innovative approach to therapy, utilizing telehealth technologies to deliver high-quality mental health services. Our therapists work collaboratively while enjoying the autonomy of managing their schedules, enabling them to achieve a healthy work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including but not limited to cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), in various settings such as individual therapy, coupleโ€™s therapy, family therapy, and group sessions.
  • Provide crisis intervention services, working alongside other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care for clients experiencing acute distress.
  • Document clinical progress accurately while maintaining compliance with clinic policies, ethical guidelines, and regulatory standards. This includes keeping developmentally appropriate progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Deliver psychoeducation to clients and their families, helping them understand and manage their mental health conditions effectively.
  • Engage in regular collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and case managers, to provide comprehensive care that promotes optimal client outcomes.
  • Assess clients' treatment progress through regular evaluations, adapting treatment plans as necessary to ensure the most effective therapeutic approaches are employed.
  • Stay up-to-date with current research, best practices, and emerging trends in mental health counseling, integrating new insights into practice to enhance client support.
  • Adhere strictly to ethical guidelines and maintain the confidentiality of client information at all times.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will have the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients who present various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. Our trauma-informed approach ensures that we respect and validate each clientโ€™s experiences, fostering healing in a culturally sensitive manner.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid license as an LCMFT, LCPC, LCP, LCSW, or LSCSW in the state of Kansas.
  • The ability to operate both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment, enhancing client care.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Preferred Experience

To thrive in this role, candidates should have at least two years of professional experience in mental health counseling, with practical exposure to trauma-informed practices and various therapeutic modalities.
