Job description
- Conducts prompt analysis and outreach to students to provide individualized academic coaching, mentoring, interventions, and success planning for Optometry students
- Monitors academic performance and implements early intervention strategies for at-risk learners
- Conducts meetings with at-risk learners remotely and/or in person as needed
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of student meetings, progress, and outcomes
- Collaborates with course directors and faculty to identify and support student learning needs
- Assists in interventions, remediation plan development, implementation, and follow-up
- Coordinates with University student support services, including ADA compliance, counseling, and academic resource offices
- Uses the University's learning management system, Blackboard, and approved communication tools, such as the Student Success Hub, to support student engagement
- Engages in weekly meetings with School's administrative team in charge of student success
- Submits end of semester reports on trends, student needs, and outcomes to the Dean and Associate Dean for Academic Programs
- Provides assessment information to the program, including ongoing development of student support tools and processes
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor
Required:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree with at least one year of clinical experience
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Must be able to work independently and effectively and interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff)
- Must be able to use School's learning management system, assessment platforms, and technologies for videoconferencing, documentation, and communication
Preferred:
- Experience in academic coaching, advising, and remediation
- Experience in teaching, mentoring, or advising students
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
