Our people are empowered to take ownership of their schedules with workflows that allow for flexible hours. Based on your job, you have an option of office, hybrid or fully remote work. It is our top priority to keep employees safe. The role:

We are looking for a Backend Developer , which will provide an amazing opportunity to contribute to ecobee's impact and learn from some strong Engineering Talent.

Our Backend team is packed with experienced developers who are amazing, and we guarantee that you will grow from working directly with them. We use leading edge technologies to innovate highly concurrent, Java-based server applications that directly impact ecobee's success.You may work on deploying applications within ecobee's infrastructure as well as AWS and Google Cloud Platform. We encourage the freedom to investigate and evaluate new technologies to solve complex problems. As a result, your input will have a significant and direct impact on our company and objectives.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Get hands-on with development of production features along with the rest of your team.
  • Participate in planning, scoping, and creating specification for these productionfeatures.
  • Learn about performance testing, unit testing, and debugging of critical high-volume systems.
  • Work with best of breed backend technologies and techniques.
  • Be mentored by senior software developers.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A current Computer Science, Software, Computer or Electrical Engineering student.
  • Proficient at writing software in Golang, Java, C# or Node/Javascript with Typescript, Python
  • Good at getting your code to run on Linux-based systems.
  • Cloud Experience - you have some exposure to cloud technologies including AWS, Google Cloud (GCP), Azure or Heroku.
  • You are familiar with how to get your code "live", from getting it reviewed, merged into a production Git branch, and orchestrated on the cloud or in a datacenter. You care about the stability of what you build so our customers have a great experience 24/7
  • An interest or experience in working with databases
  • Eager to improve your software craft.
  • Curious, thoughtful, and practical!
  • Would like to make a difference in an intellectual and planet-positive environment.
