Key responsibilities

  • Own specific strategic projects end to end, including diagnosing performance drivers, planning initiatives, and executing operational work.

  • Analyze data independently to understand business metrics, prioritize initiatives, and develop project plans with clear deliverables and success metrics.

  • Track KPIs after implementation, assess effectiveness, diagnose issues, and recommend concrete changes to improve business outcomes.

Job description

About First Connect:
First Connect Insurance Services is a digital platform providing independent insurance agents with access to top US carriers and the options necessary to grow their businesses. Agents can work with over 150 carriers, selling various insurance policies, including home, auto, small businesses, and more. We're on a mission to overhaul the technology agents have access to, putting consumer-grade software at their fingertips. We've got thousands of active agents with hundreds of joining monthly, and we plan to accelerate our growth.

Role Overview:
This is a foundational operations role focused on driving First Connect's strategic priorities through data-driven decision-making. You will own specific strategic projects end to end — from diagnosing what's driving performance, to prioritizing and planning initiatives, to rolling up your sleeves and executing them. This is a highly hands-on position: you won't just coordinate work, you'll do it. The ideal candidate is analytically sharp, comfortable with ambiguity, and motivated by seeing a metric move because of work they drove themselves.

What You'll Do:

Diagnose & Prioritize

  • Dig into data independently to understand what's driving a business metric and why
  • Form a real point of view on which initiatives would move the metric, backed by analysis, not intuition
  • Make the case for what should be prioritized and why

Plan & Execute

  • Turn your point of view into a concrete project plan with clear deliverables and success metrics
  • Drive execution: coordinate with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Finance, and do hands-on operational work yourself
  • Navigate ambiguity and keep initiatives moving even without direct authority over the teams involved

Measure & Adjust

  • Track KPIs after launch and communicate clearly whether initiatives are working
  • Diagnose what's not working and recommend concrete changes
  • Build repeatable ways to analyze and report on metrics over time

Example Projects:

  • Build a picture of the onboarding funnel from day 60–120. What % of agencies get 1:1 human outreach? Does the number or timing of outreaches correlate with agency productivity? How should we deploy sales capacity differently to pull agencies through the funnel?
  • Analyze our agency base to find segments with high potential for increasing revenue. Then work with Sales leadership to launch targeted outbound campaigns, and track whether they move the needle.
  • Partner with our Account Management leadership to set tactical, weekly KPIs that ladder up to the company's top line goals. Then design and build the dashboards to give leadership visibility into how we're doing.

What You Bring:

  • 3-5+ year's experience operating in a fast-paced, analytically rigorous environment in management consulting, investment banking, or a high-growth tech company
  • Comfort with Excel required; SQL is a plus
  • The ability to look at a messy dataset and form an actual opinion about what it means for the business (not just summarize what it says)
  • A bias toward getting into the weeds: this role does real operational work, not just analysis
  • Comfort with navigating ambiguity without much formal authority
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Benefits & Perks
First Connect treats its team members with the same level of dedication and care as we do our customers, which is why we're fortunate to provide our team with:

  • Multiple medical plans to choose from and 100% employer-covered dental; vision plans for our team members and their families
  • A 401(k) retirement plan, short- and long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) for health and dependent care, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Work-From-Home Stipend — Employer-provided WFH equipment and an $85 monthly expense stipend to ensure you're set up for success
  • Equity — This position is eligible for equity compensation
  • Training and Career Growth — Training and internal career growth opportunities
  • Flexible Time Off — You know when and how you should recharge

The base pay range for the role is $130,000 - $140,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, location, business needs, and market demands.

First Connect is an equal-opportunity employer, and we are committed to building a team culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion.

Applicants are considered solely based on their qualifications, without regard to an applicant's disability or need for accommodation. Any First Connect applicant who requires reasonable accommodations during the application process should contact the First Connect People Team to make the need for an accommodation known.
