The Account Executive - Government serves as McKesson's trusted advisor to Veterans Affairs and other government healthcare customers within the Pacific Northwest Territory. This role is responsible for ensuring contractual performance, strengthening customer relationships, resolving operational challenges, and delivering measurable value through pharmaceutical distribution, supply chain expertise, and strategic account management.
Location: Remote, field-based. Candidate must reside within the assigned territory and within reasonable proximity to a major airport to support customer-facing travel requirements across multiple states. Must reside within territory, Preferred locations Anchorage, AK, Seattle, WA and Portland OR.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders across government accounts and leadership to better understand decision processes, customer initiatives, and opportunities to improve service and value.
  • Lead proactive business reviews and customer meetings using data, trends, service insights, and customer priorities to tell a clear value story and identify next steps.
  • Lead cross-functional issue resolution and customer escalations by coordinating resources across Operations, Customer Service, Compliance, National Accounts, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer outcomes through pharmaceutical distribution services, inventory optimization, reporting and technology solutions, compliance support, operational efficiencies, and industry best practices.
  • Represent McKesson with credibility in complex government environments, balancing customer expectations, contract commitments, patient-care impact, and business priorities.
  • Maintain disciplined CRM documentation, territory planning, account strategy development, and follow-up to support account visibility, internal alignment, and contractual commitments.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including customer engagement requirements, business reviews, documentation standards, and service commitments.

Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Critical Skills
  • 4+ years of Account Management preferred within the healthcare industry.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills with the ability to engage audiences ranging from operational staff to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility and influence with customer stakeholders and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to navigate complex customer situations and drive resolution.
  • Ability to translate operational, financial, and service data into compelling customer-facing presentations and recommendations.

Additional Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Salesforce.com or CRM software experience and Copilot or other AI tools.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry.
  • Strategic, innovative, out of the box thinker, with demonstrated success in complex problem resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution and healthcare supply chain operations.
  • Experience interpreting and utilizing data from CRM, reporting, and business intelligence tools.
  • Ability to analyze customer trends and develop actionable account strategies.
  • Skilled at managing customer priorities in highly regulated and complex healthcare environments.
  • Travel required throughout assigned territory.
