Position Description

Partners Capital is seeking a Senior Associate to join as a member of the Operational Due Diligence (โ€œODDโ€) team in its Boston office. The candidate will lead operational due diligence reviews end-to-end, including gathering manager information, conducting meetings with CFO/COO level employees at investment management firms, assessing key risk areas and preparing detailed reports. This individual will report to Partners Capitalโ€™s Head of Operational Due Diligence.

As a fast-growing, 400+ person company (with 200+ employees in North America), Partners Capital is seeking someone who is motivated, entrepreneurial, adaptable and excited to join a small team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills and will have prior investment operations, risk management and/or operational due diligence experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth ODD reviews of both new and existing investment managers across a range of asset classes, including hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and long-only strategies
  • Prepare and present detailed ODD reports that assess key operational risk areas, including staffing, fund accounting, trading operations, compliance policies, valuation procedures, technology infrastructure, data security, and systems and service providers. Present findings and recommendations to research team members and internal committees in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Maintain and manage the teamโ€™s pipeline, coordinating closely with the Research team to ensure ODD completion in advance of investment committee meetings.
  • Work directly with investment managers to coordinate the ODD process, including document collection, leading virtual or on-site meetings, and any follow-ups as appropriate.
  • Conduct background checks on key personnel at investment managers and verify third-party service provider relationships, including fund administrators and auditors.
  • Ensure timely update of ODD team databases and ensure the accuracy of key manager and fund information in Partners Capitalโ€™s internal systems.
  • Keep up to date on industry trends, best practices and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to broader team or firmwide projects, including identification of process or system improvements, vendor assessments, annual surveys, financial statement reviews, or other projects as agreed.

Key responsibilities may be assessed and are subject to change from time to time based on the needs of the business.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for ensuring all information security processes, policies and procedures are adhered to and any issues or concerns are raised with the Cyber Security team.
  • Ensure full compliance with all local data protection regulations and privacy controls, and any related issues are raised via the appropriate channels.

Qualifications / Attributes

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related field is strongly preferred. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, CAIA, FRM) a plus.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in operational due diligence, investment operations, risk management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of alternative investment fund structures, public/private asset classes and investment operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with maintaining databases and using reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to convey information clearly and interact effectively with internal and external investment managers.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to data accuracy and quality reporting.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving work environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, professional integrity and a critical, analytical mindset.

Massachusetts requires Partners Capital to include a reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role. This base salary range is specific to individuals applying to work in our Massachusetts office and takes into account a number of factors. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role in Massachusetts is $90,000 - $120,000. The base salary offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

The base salary is one element of our competitive compensation package. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
