Job description

Spalding, a Saalex Company is seeking a Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) in Lexington Park, MD. Position Type: Temporary ~7 months
Salary: $115k-$135k annually (depending upon experience)
Work Location: This is a remote position
Essential Functions:
  • Develop and manage MBSE products and initiatives that support modeling NAVAIR logistic data and systems as they mature a digital twin of naval aviation.
  • Architecture Analysis - Analyze and decompose the current Teamcenter product lifecycle management (PLM) architecture to map existing components and integration points.
  • Data Modeling - Document and diagram existing data elements; map current data structures to the new NPLM target model.
  • DoDAF Artifact Creation - Develop and maintain Data Item Views (DIV-1 and DIV-2) for both the existing COMET/HII data model and the new NPLM Base Model.
  • ETL & Integration Modeling - Design Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) models, including 4GD transformations; author and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICD).
  • Technical Documentation - Draft and finalize comprehensive System Design Documentation (SDD) for the architecture transition.
  • Deprecation Analysis - Evaluate the existing Teamcenter and OEM data models to identify components and legacy structures eligible for retirement.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams in planning, design, and development of systems to ensure software and hardware performance and compatibility.
  • Maintain system model in Cameo model-based systems engineering tool.
  • Participate in design working group and technical interchange meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements
Required:
  • 3 years' experience with systems engineering and the utilization of model-based systems and digital engineering processes, principles, techniques, and procedures.
  • Understanding of model-based systems engineering tools such as Cameo, Magic Draw, Rhapsody, and/or other SysML modeling tools.
  • Core MBSE Expertise - Proven background in systems analysis, data modeling, and creating complex system architecture diagrams using industry-standard MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, Sparx EA).
  • Frameworks & Methodologies - Extensive hands-on experience generating DoDAF or UAF artifacts, with specific proficiency in data views (DIV-1, DIV-2).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in industry-standard MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Enterprise Architecture, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or Siemens System Modeling Workbench) with a proven ability to generate DoDAF 2.02 artifacts and data models.

Desired:
  • Domain Knowledge - Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems; direct experience with Siemens Teamcenter and/or NPLM transitions is highly preferred.
  • Data Engineering Acumen - Strong understanding of data mapping, ETL processes, and interface control management.
  • Communication - Exceptional technical writing skills with the ability to translate complex data structures into clear System Design Documentation (SDD).

Education:
BS degree in Engineering, Math or relevant technical field is required.
Security Clearance:
Active Secret clearance required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
