How much do remote nursing internships jobs pay per hour?

As of Sep 3, 2026, the average hourly pay for remote nursing internships in the United States is $28.70, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $20.43 and $36.54 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are remote nursing internships?

Remote nursing internships are practical training opportunities for nursing students or recent graduates that can be completed online or partially online. These internships typically involve tasks such as telehealth support, virtual patient education, case management, and administrative work, allowing interns to gain relevant experience without being physically present in a healthcare facility. They help students develop important skills like communication, digital literacy, and patient assessment while accommodating flexible schedules and various locations. Remote nursing internships are especially valuable for those unable to attend in-person placements due to geographical or personal constraints.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote nursing internships?

To excel in Remote Nursing Internships, you need foundational nursing knowledge, strong academic standing in a nursing program, and basic clinical skills. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and secure communication tools is typically required. Excellent time management, self-motivation, and professional communication are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration and patient interaction. These competencies ensure interns effectively contribute to patient care and learning objectives in a virtual healthcare environment.

What are some common challenges faced during remote nursing internships, and how can I overcome them?

One common challenge of remote nursing internships is limited hands-on experience with patients, which can make it harder to develop certain clinical skills. To overcome this, interns are encouraged to actively participate in virtual simulations, case studies, and telehealth sessions offered by their program. Effective communication with mentors and supervisors is crucial, as it helps clarify expectations and ensures you receive timely feedback. Additionally, maintaining a structured daily schedule and setting personal learning goals can help keep you engaged and maximize your remote internship experience.
