What is a remote nurse?

Remote nurses are licensed nursing professionals who provide care, support, and medical advice to patients from a location outside of traditional healthcare facilities, often working from home. They utilize telehealth technologies such as phone, video calls, and online messaging to assess symptoms, educate patients, coordinate care, and sometimes assist with case management. Remote nurses work in a variety of settings, including telemedicine companies, insurance providers, and healthcare systems, helping to expand access to healthcare and improve patient outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote nurse?

To thrive as a Remote Nurse, you need a solid background in clinical nursing, patient assessment, and care coordination, typically with an active RN license and relevant nursing experience. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and secure communication systems is essential. These competencies ensure high-quality patient care, accurate documentation, and effective support in a virtual healthcare environment.

What does a remote nurse do?

A remote nurse is often referred to as a telehealth nurse. Telehealth and telemedicine utilize technology to allow RNs and other medical professionals to deliver care from a remote location. Remote nurses use things like web cameras, the Internet, and telephones to perform duties and deliver medical care from a distance. As a remote nurse, your responsibilities include using technology to help triage patients who cannot be reached immediately, such as victims of natural disasters. You also address patients who are receiving routine health care, such as pre- and post-surgical care and general best practices.

How does a remote nurse collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members while working from home?

Remote nurses regularly communicate and coordinate with physicians, care managers, and other healthcare professionals using secure digital platforms, phone calls, and video conferencing. They participate in virtual team meetings, update electronic health records, and relay critical patient information promptly to ensure continuity of care. Building strong communication skills and staying organized are essential, as remote nurses often serve as the key point of contact between patients and the broader care team.

Job description

Nurse Practitioner

Integrated Women's Care (IWC)
Employment Type: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation: $55 - $70 / hour, based on geographic location
Reports To: Nurse Practitioner Manager
Work Location: Remote - must live in Washington; work must be completed within the United States
Schedule: Between 7:00am - 7:00pm, patient local timezone

You built your career caring for women at a time when the healthcare system largely ignored them. You know HRT, you understand the complexity of perimenopause, and you've spent years earning the clinical instincts it takes to actually get this right. Now you want to do it at scale - for more patients, with fewer barriers, and in a practice model that matches how you already think and work.

That's what Midi is. A fully virtual, fast-paced clinical environment built specifically around women's midlife health - and designed for NPs who are ready to practice at their best.

THE ROLE

You'll carry a full patient panel, managing perimenopause, menopause, weight, sexual health, mood, and sleep - all virtually. This is ongoing, relationship-based care, which means your patients come back to you - visit after visit, over months and years. You'll prescribe and independently manage HRT (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), evaluate patients for pharmacologic weight management including GLP-1 therapies, and make autonomous clinical decisions every day.

It's a high-volume environment. Documentation, follow-through, and productivity benchmarks are part of the job - and the NPs who thrive here don't fight that reality, they're built for it. If you're the kind of clinician who runs efficient visits without sacrificing warmth, closes every loop without being reminded, and moves comfortably between patients and platforms, you'll feel at home here.

WHO THRIVES HERE

Our most successful NPs tend to share a few things in common:

  • They are genuinely passionate about women's midlife health - this isn't a stopover, it's their calling
  • They are fluent with technology - EHR, video, AI scribe tools, Slack, clinical decision support - and they adapt quickly when tools change
  • They hold themselves to a high standard without needing to be managed toward it
  • They can carry a full panel, hit productivity targets, and still make every patient feel like the only one
  • They've practiced independently long enough to trust their own clinical judgment
  • They believe that listening deeply and documenting accurately are both forms of excellent care

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Reside within the state of Washington
  • Active board certification: FNP-C / FNP-BC or WHNP-BC
  • 3+ years independently managing perimenopause and menopause patients
  • 3+ years independently prescribing and titrating HRT
  • 3+ years managing a continuous NP patient panel - building ongoing relationships and making autonomous clinical decisions over time
  • 3+ years of synchronous telemedicine experience
  • 1+ year evaluating and prescribing pharmacologic weight management therapies, including GLP-1 agonists
  • Multiple active state licenses (DEA preferred)
  • Preferred: certification in Menopause (MSCP) and/or Obesity Medicine

WHY MIDI

  • A patient population that is engaged, informed, and deeply grateful for real care
  • Full clinical autonomy within a supportive, protocol-driven framework
  • Fully remote with scheduling between 7am-7pm patient local time
  • Desirable benefits package
  • Accredited training eligible for Continuing Education (CE)
  • Clinician Professional Development Allowance
  • Paid time off
  • A team that takes women's health as seriously as you do

WORKING ENVIRONMENTย

This is a fully remote position requiring reliable high-speed internet access and the ability to work effectively in a virtual environment. The role involves prolonged computer use, including extended periods of sitting, video conferencing, and electronic documentation. To support patient access and business needs, occasional evening, weekend, or multi-time-zone coverage may be required.
