About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Procedure Technical Writer with a minimum of 15 years of direct experience writing and maintaining operations procedures for NRC or DOE-regulated nuclear facilities. In this role, you'll develop clear, technically accurate, and compliant procedures for nuclear plant operations—including normal, abnormal, and emergency operating instructions, surveillance procedures, and administrative controls. You'll work collaboratively with safety, engineering, and operations teams to ensure procedural excellence and regulatory compliance.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop, revise, and maintain comprehensive procedures for nuclear facility operations
  • Research operations and processes to understand the nature of tasks addressed in procedure scope
  • Conduct field walk-downs as applicable to support accurate process documentation and development
  • Communicate regularly with clients across operations, maintenance, and engineering departments
  • Perform thorough procedure, licensing, and technical basis document reviews to assess procedure adequacy and compliance
  • Follow established procedure development and revision processes while maintaining regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (preferred) in one of the following fields:
    • Technical Writing, English, or Communications
    • Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical)
    • Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry)
    • Nuclear Technology or Operations-related field

    Note: An Associate degree combined with relevant technical training (such as nuclear navy background, technical school, or community college nuclear technology program) is acceptable as an alternative to a bachelor's degree, especially when paired with significant nuclear procedure writing experience.

  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of direct experience writing and maintaining operations procedures for NRC or DOE-regulated nuclear facilities
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a DOE "Q" Clearance (active "Q" clearance is preferred)
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen with no dual citizenship

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
