Remote Nokia Ran Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Nokia RAN Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Nokia RAN Engineer, you need expertise in radio access network (RAN) technologies, a solid understanding of cellular communication (2G/3G/4G/5G), and typically an engineering degree in telecommunications or a related field. Familiarity with Nokia RAN equipment, network management tools like NetAct, and relevant certifications such as Nokia NRS I/II are often required. Strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to resolve technical issues remotely are critical soft skills. These skills ensure efficient network performance, minimize downtime, and support seamless connectivity for service providers and users.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Nokia RAN Engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Nokia RAN Engineers often encounter challenges like troubleshooting network issues without on-site access, managing multiple remote sites, and staying up-to-date with evolving Nokia technologies. These challenges can be addressed by leveraging advanced remote access tools, maintaining strong documentation, and participating in continuous professional development and training on Nokia RAN solutions. Effective communication with on-site teams and other remote engineers is also crucial to ensure smooth operations and quick problem resolution.

What is a Remote Nokia RAN Engineer?

A Remote Nokia RAN (Radio Access Network) Engineer is a telecommunications professional who specializes in configuring, optimizing, and maintaining Nokia's RAN equipment and software from a remote location. Their primary responsibilities include monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, implementing upgrades, and ensuring seamless connectivity for mobile networks. These engineers work with Nokia-specific technologies such as LTE, 5G, and associated network management tools. By working remotely, they support mobile operators and service providers in maintaining high network reliability and performance without being onsite.

What is the difference between Remote Nokia Ran Engineer vs Remote 5G Network Engineer?

AspectRemote Nokia Ran EngineerRemote 5G Network Engineer
Certifications Nokia certifications, CCNA, Cisco certificationsFCC, Cisco, Nokia certifications, 5G-specific training
Work Environment Telecom sites, network operation centers, remote troubleshooting 5G infrastructure, telecom sites, remote network design
Industry Usage Telecom operators, network service providers Telecom, mobile network providers, 5G technology firms

Remote Nokia Ran Engineers focus on LTE and 4G network deployment and maintenance, while Remote 5G Network Engineers specialize in 5G infrastructure and technology. Both roles require telecom certifications and involve remote troubleshooting, but 5G roles emphasize newer technology and higher bandwidth networks.

Job description

4G/5G Architect With AI Use Cases For Network API

We are looking for a visionary Network API Specialist to architect the next generation of our programmable network strategy. You won't just be "exposing APIs"—you will be designing the economic and technical interface between our core network assets and the burgeoning AI Agent Economy. Your goal is to move us beyond the baseline standardization of Aduna and GSMA Open Gateway into high-margin, intent-based network services across terrestrial and non-terrestrial domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vendor Orchestration: Act as the primary technical liaison with Ericsson (Aduna/Vonage) and Nokia (Network as Code). Evaluate their internal roadmaps to ensure our internal capabilities remain ahead of generic "off-the-shelf" vendor offerings.
  • Examples of Vision Execution:
    • Agentic Interfacing: Architect API wrappers that support Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Intent-Based Networking, allowing AI agents (Gemini, OpenAI, Claude) to negotiate network resources autonomously.
    • Vertical Partnership Development: Identify and build deep-tech API integrations for specific sectors (e.g., Automotive V2X, Remote Healthcare, or Logistics).
    • Multi-Domain Orchestration: Integrate terrestrial 5G-Advanced capabilities with NTN (Satellite) APIs for seamless, transport-agnostic global connectivity.
  • Internal Capability Mapping: Audit our current 5G Standalone (5G SA) and IMS cores to identify "hidden" data assets that can be productized via APIs.

Technical Qualifications

  • Deep Telco Stack Knowledge: Hands-on experience with 5G SA Core, Network Slicing, and Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) architectures.
  • API Ecosystem Expert: Proven track record with the CAMARA API framework and the implementation of Network APIs.
  • AI/Software Native: Deep understanding of LLM orchestration, Agentic AI workflows, and how software developers (not just telco engineers) consume services.
  • Multi-Vendor Experience: Ability to navigate the specific API "flavors" of Ericsson/Vonage, Nokia, and AWS/Azure Telco Clouds.

Strategic Competencies

  • Commercial Ingenuity: Designs "Outcome-Based" solutions that integrate capabilities across domains, business units, and potentially external enterprises.
  • Ecosystem Gravity: Possesses a strong industry network to foster collaboration and attract best practices and innovative ideas for the telecommunications sector.
  • Wit & Communication: Articulates the distinction between a "Control Plane" and a "Business Outcome" to an executive audience in under two minutes.

Mandatory skills and skill proficiencies required for this position include 4G/5G architecture, Camara API, REST API, and AI network API use cases.
