The Senior Secure Edge Engineer is a critical individual contributor role within the Cybersecurity Secure Edge team. This role is structurally decoupled from legacy on-premise hardware maintenance or standard network administration. The position requires specialized, high-demand expertise in modern Security Service Edge (SSE) and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) cloud-delivered frameworks, zero-trust perimeter logic, and identity-centric edge firewall ecosystems.Job Description

In this capacity, the Senior Secure Edge Engineer will:

  • Provide expertise in Secure Edge Zero Trust architecture and design, both on-prem and cloud;
  • Create Personas and associated policies to support a 3,200 user hybrid workforce who could be in an office, working from home, at a client site or courtroom, or travelling internationally;
  • Be the subject matter expert for identity based remote access and firewalls;
  • Co-Manage some or all of these technologies with trusted Managed Services Providers;
  • Establish and document operational procedures and runbooks for the frontline helpdesk as well as the SOC and the NOC;
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for access related incidents, including both fixing technical issues as well supporting Incident Response efforts related to remote compromise; and
  • Collaborate with various Information Security and Information Technology teams to ensure the overall security of the firm's technology footprint both on-prem and in the public cloud.

In addition, the Senior Secure Edge Engineer will be expected to have experience with the following areas of responsibility:

  • Partner with engineering on development, implementation, and monitoring of remote access controls for the protection of applications, services and highly sensitive data, including assisting with DLP initiatives;
  • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks;
  • Assess gaps in existing policy and propose amendments to existing policy or new policy to address these gaps;
  • Building threat models for enterprise applications to identify attack vectors and threats;
  • Collaborate with engineers, consultants and leadership to address security risks and provide mitigation recommendations for Cloud applications; and
  • Provides guidance and support to self-testing, security control assessment, preparation of remediation plans, and development of continuous monitoring plans.

Proficiencies:

  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate and translate security and risk management terminology in business terms;
  • Excellent Judgement including understanding when it is safe to allow access, when it's not safe, and when business requirements overrule traditional practices;
  • Detailed technical knowledge of Firewalls and two or more of the following: SASE, SSE, Zero Trust concepts, IAM, IaC, public cloud IaaS;
  • Hands on experience with Palo Alto NGFW, including GlobalProtect and Zscaler ZIA; and
  • Strong proven experience providing secure design guidance for complex environments.

Qualifications:

  • Have minimum of 12 years' Information Security experience (preferred); and
  • At least 5 years SSE / SASE / NGFW experience (required).
