Position Overview:

As a Project Manager within our Building Restoration Consulting Team, you will be responsible for overseeing all phases of a project from design, construction, and delivery under the support and guidance of a Project Principal. With a proactive and client-focused mindset, you have a passion for delivering outstanding engineering services.

General Responsibilities:

  • Marketing: Build Sense Engineering's brand through exceptional partner engagement. Represent Sense professionally, building positive relationships with clients, contractors and other consultants.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Manage restoration projects from initial design phase to completion
  • Lead proposal development, including scope definition, fee estimation, scheduling, and resource planning
  • Conduct site investigations and evaluations
  • Prepare detailed technical reports of findings, provide recommendations on project concept, and provide direction during construction phase
  • Prepare detailed restoration design, including scopes of work, specifications, and drawings
  • Chair client meetings and communicate design updates, changes, and key project milestones to contractors and other engineering and architectural disciplines
  • Manage the tendering process and oversee contract administration, including bid preparation, contractor selection, and review of invoices and change orders
  • Represent Sense at industry events and other networking functions
  • Commitment to continuous learning by staying updated with industry trends, codes, and best practices
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Occasional travel within Canada required, with the majority of projects to be within Ontario
  • Other duties as assigned/required

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
  • Minimum 5 years of Building Envelope and/or Structural Restoration experience 
  • Registered with or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Proven ability to apply project management principles, from strategic planning and budgeting to resource allocation and scope control
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and relationship building skills with a proven ability to build trust with clients and contractors
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail coupled with a client-centric mindset
  • Commitment to creative thinking and approaching challenges from fresh perspectives, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing within the organization
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation required
