Job description

Staff Product Designer, Incident Response Management (IRM)

This is a remote position. We are looking for candidates in the US and Canada (East Coast US/Canada preferred, open to other time zones for exceptional candidates).

The Opportunity:

As a Staff Product Designer at Grafana Labs, you will join a growing Product Design organization of more than 25 designers, researchers, engineers, and design leaders distributed across four continents. You will work within a 100% remote R&D organization, so strong, proactive remote communication, collaboration, facilitation, and relationship building skills will be essential to your success.

Your primary focus will be to design practical and effective user experiences for Grafana's Incident Response & Management (IRM) solutions. These products make it easy for teams of engineers, SREs, and their agents to detect, respond to, and learn from incidents with minimal toil, across a variety of touchpoints including desktop and mobile web, native mobile, Slack, Teams, MCP integrations, and agentic harnesses like Claude Code and Codex.ย

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Work with peers and leaders across engineering, product management, technical writing, go-to-market, and product design to iterate on and improve our products
  • Document user needs and pain points, design directions, trade-offs, and detailed designs using a variety of product design and visual communication tools, including agentic tooling such as Figma Make, Cursor, and Claude Code where it adds value to your practice
  • Work with researchers, cross-functional collaborators, and lead customers such as the members of our Customer Advisory Board (CAB) and Design Partnership Program (DPP) to plan and execute formative and evaluative research initiatives
  • Provide pragmatic, cohesive, and highly scalable design solutions that strike the appropriate balance between addressing business, customer, and user needs

Over time, you will develop deep expertise in your product area and the associated customer and user personas, use cases, and workflows. This will enable you to make a meaningful impact on the user experience your product surface delivers to Grafana customers, as well as our internal engineering teams (yes, we use our own tools!).ย

Simultaneously, you will contribute to the evolution of the Product Design team at Grafana by coaching and mentoring other designers, collaborating on team internal initiatives, and helping evolve new ways of working, learning, and having fun together.ย

You will help scale our team's impact on our customers, users, and business and work with the rest of the Product Design function to bring Grafana Labs' products into the new age of agentic workflows using the power of our collective skills, customer and user empathy, conviction, and taste.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Experience designing for developers, SREs, and other highly technical users
  • A portfolio of well-articulated design work that moved the needle on specific business goals, metrics, or KPIs for complex and data-rich dev tooling and/or enterprise SaaS products
  • Ability to make design decisions that appropriately balance business goals, product priorities, customer feedback, research insights, and technical considerations
  • Ability to deliver pragmatic, cohesive, and scalable design solutions in a fast-paced environment where industry standards are constantly evolving
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple locations and time-zones to iteratively ship and evolve products while keeping the end design vision in mind
  • Experience working in a fully-remote, fast-paced environment where you are expected to share openly, default to transparency, and embrace your autonomy
  • A deep personal desire to seek diverse perspectives, aim for progress over perfection, follow through on commitments, support your peers, and mentor new hires

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience designing developer or SRE tools for critical cloud infrastructure, security, or other high-stress use cases and usage scenarios
  • Experience designing cross-platform experiences for developer tools across touchpoints including web, desktop, mobile, CLI, API and MCP integrations, and agentic harnesses
  • An understanding of incident response scenarios / practices related to observability, cloud infrastructure, database monitoring, cyber security, or similar domains

When you apply, please:

  • Provide an example of a successful software product that addresses incident response management or similar use cases, and briefly explain what you believe makes it effective

Compensation & Rewards:

In the US, the base compensation range for this role is $162,000ย - $202,000.ย Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process. Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable) and other benefits listedย here.
