This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cisco Firewall Engineer L3 based in Netherlands.

This role offers the opportunity to act as a senior technical expert supporting enterprise network security infrastructure.
You will be responsible for advanced firewall troubleshooting, security architecture improvements, and complex infrastructure initiatives.
The position combines hands-on engineering, strategic problem-solving, and collaboration with security and networking teams.
You will help strengthen security posture through firewall optimization, segmentation strategies, automation, and continuous improvements.
Working in a remote environment, you will support critical enterprise systems while contributing technical expertise and mentorship.

Accountabilities:

As a Cisco Firewall Engineer L3, you will serve as a senior-level technical resource responsible for advanced support, troubleshooting, and security infrastructure enhancements. You will work on complex firewall environments while collaborating with engineering teams and technology partners. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading root cause analysis for complex firewall and network security incidents.
  • Designing and improving segmentation strategies, security policies, and firewall architectures.
  • Implementing advanced security services and enhancing enterprise protection capabilities.
  • Performing firewall migrations, upgrades, and technology improvements.
  • Optimizing firewall performance, configurations, and rule base efficiency.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced network security engineer with deep Cisco firewall expertise and strong enterprise infrastructure knowledge. You should have advanced troubleshooting abilities, experience working in complex environments, and the ability to design secure and scalable solutions. Required qualifications include:

  • 6-10+ years of experience in network security engineering or related infrastructure roles.
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco firewall architecture and enterprise networking concepts.
  • Strong understanding of routing, high availability (HA), and network security design principles.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting complex firewall and connectivity issues.
  • Experience designing and implementing security policies and segmentation approaches.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and security workflow integrations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage advanced technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Security certification is preferred.
