Roles and Responsibilities:
The Sr TBMA – Apptio & Technology Business Management (TBM) is responsible for leading the operational delivery of enterprise technology cost transparency, Application Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), infrastructure cost allocation, and capitalization processes using the Apptio platform and the TBM framework.
This role manages a team of Technology Business Management Administrators (TBMAs) and partners with IT Finance, Tech Strategy, Infrastructure, and Portfolio stakeholders to support Lean Portfolio Management (LPM), accurate financial reporting, and informed technology investment decision making.
1. Apptio Platform & TBM Operations – 30%
Oversee day to day operations of the Apptio platform, including Cost Transparency, Application TCO, Capitalization, and DataLink. Manage configuration, maintenance, enhancements, and production support for cost models, allocations, and reporting views. Ensure adherence to TBM taxonomy, internal financial policies, and governance standards.
2. Infrastructure & Shared Services Cost Allocation – 20%
Lead the execution of infrastructure and shared services cost allocation models across compute, storage, cloud, network, and platform services. Partner with Infrastructure Service Owners to validate cost drivers, consumption metrics, and allocation assumptions. Ensure allocations are consistent, transparent, and explainable to application and product owners.
3. Application TCO & Lean Portfolio Enablement – 15%
Oversee Application TCO models to ensure accuracy, traceability, and alignment to portfolios, value streams, products, and applications. Support Lean Portfolio Management by enabling portfolio level cost transparency to inform prioritization and investment decisions.
4. Capitalization Oversight (Without Time Tracking) – 10%
Oversee capitalization processes within Apptio that do not rely on time tracking. Partner with IT Finance to apply approved capitalization policies based on cost categories, funding structures, and investment types. Ensure capitalization logic is consistently applied, documented, and auditable.
5. Month End Financial Processes & Governance – 10%
Manage Apptio related activities supporting the month end close, including data loads, validation, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Partner with IT Finance to ensure Apptio outputs align with general ledger, forecasts, and reporting timelines. Identify and resolve data or model issues impacting financial reporting.
6. People Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership – 15%
Manage, coach, and develop a team of TBMAs. Assign and prioritize work, ensure delivery quality, and support skill development. Act as a liaison between IT Finance, Tech Strategy, Infrastructure, and delivery teams; communicate Apptio outputs and cost insights to stakeholders in a clear and business appropriate manner.

Required
•Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related field with an analytical focus, or equivalent experience.
•6–8+ years of experience in Technology Business Management, IT Financial Management, or related finance/technology roles.
•Hands on experience with Apptio Cost Transparency, Application TCO, capitalization, and cost allocation models.
•People management experience in an operational or platform support environment.
•Strong understanding of financial close processes, reconciliations, and cost governance.
•Ability to communicate complex financial and technical information to non finance stakeholders.
Nice to Haves / Preferred
•Knowledge of integrations across enterprise finance and delivery tools such as Clarity, Rally, and ServiceNow.
•Understanding of how portfolio, product, service, and asset data from upstream systems feeds Apptio cost and capitalization models.
•Familiarity with Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) and/or SAFe concepts, including value streams, products, and portfolio governance.
•Experience partnering with Infrastructure, Cloud, or Platform teams on cost transparency initiatives.
