Summary
THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION
This position is part of the IN JFHQ IN J6, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number D1588000.

Duties
Help
  • installs complicated equipment such as key and single line telephone systems (to include features such as visual and audio signaling, intercommunications, hold, exclusion), private branch automatic exchanges (PBAX).
  • Installs and tests office automation systems and remote terminal equipment to include telephone lines, interior network cables, communications boards, controllers, printers, disk drives, modems and other peripheral devices.
  • Interprets work orders to determine tools, equipment, and materials required; and coordinates actions with users, test board and/or repairman, and other installers.
  • May oversee vendor Equipment Supply/Repair Technician and Line Installation/Repair Technician in accomplishing their assigned responsibilities.
  • Special tape recorder equipment, executive loudspeaker and amplifier conference telephones, fire and special alarm circuits, secretarial answering turrets, and cordless switchboards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months.

Qualifications
MILITARY GRADES: E-1 through E-8 OR WO1 through CW2
COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: **25, 255**
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates a basic knowledge of telephone equipment. Must have a knowledge of the principles of electricity and electronics, and be able to use test equipment, wiring diagrams, schematics and other specifications.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience running wire, installing molding, insulators, connectors and terminal boxes, and other protective and support items. Experience in the use of complex test equipment such as hand test sets, volt-ohmmeters, tone testers, etc. Experience in reading and understanding layout sheets, wiring diagrams, schematics, building plans, etc. Working knowledge of the characteristics and principles of AC and DC current and electronics to troubleshoot and repair electronic and electromechanical key and PBAX systems and telephones, data circuitry components, and other related equipment and systems.
**FWS POSITIONS ONLY**: Specialized Experience Requirements for NGB Federal Wage System Positions for claiming civilian job experience: Creditable experience must have been performed at least 30 consecutive days and be properly documented.
Experience in the same line of work can only be credited on the basis of a regular 40-hour workweek. Hours per week MUST be documented on resume to receive any credit.
