Position Summary

The UX UI Product Designer owns the end-to-end user experience of The Difference Card's digital products. This role partners closely with Product Management and Engineering to research user needs, design intuitive workflows, create polished interfaces, and validate solutions through testing and feedback.

The ideal candidate combines strong UX thinking with visual design expertise and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. They are equally comfortable conducting user research, creating wireframes and prototypes, and presenting design solutions to stakeholders across the organization.


Essential Responsibilities:

User Experience & Product Design

  • Conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, usability testing, and workflow analysis to identify user needs and pain points.
  • Create user flows, journey maps, information architecture, wireframes, and prototypes that improve usability and user satisfaction.
  • Design intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling interfaces across web-based applications.
  • Translate complex business requirements into simple, user-centered experiences.
  • Iterate on designs based on user feedback, data insights, and stakeholder input.
  • Ensure consistency through the development and maintenance of design systems, UI standards, and reusable components.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Customer Service, Marketing, and other stakeholders to understand business objectives and user needs.
  • Communicate design rationale and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, design reviews, and product discussions.

Product Improvement & Validation

  • Analyze user workflows and business processes to identify friction points and improve the end-user experience.
  • Develop low- and high-fidelity prototypes to validate concepts and test new functionality.
  • Support user acceptance testing activities and help ensure delivered solutions meet user needs and design expectations.
  • Monitor product performance and user feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Communicate professionally with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Travel occasionally as needed for customer meetings, user research, or company events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), UX Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4-6 years of experience in UX/UI Design, Product Design, or a related digital product role.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user research, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, and shipped digital products.
  • Proficiency with modern design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
  • Experience designing responsive web applications and digital products.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and usability best practices.
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Preferred

  • Experience designing products in healthcare, benefits administration, insurance, fintech, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
  • Experience leveraging user feedback and analytics to inform design decisions.

Location: Remote, but with quarterly travel required to our Indiana office, plus some other potential strategic travel opportunities.
