The Role

Expansion/Market Planner Scope

Lumen is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to join the Expansion Planning team. The role will focus on Expansion/Market Planning, development of collaborative planning solutions to improve network efficiencies, driving revenue growth, including detailed service delivery plans with physical and network layer designs, maps, diagrams, and cost estimates. 

The Senior Planning Engineers will drive operational excellence in partnership with internal stakeholders, vendors, and peers to foster continuous improvement while exemplifying Lumen's 8 cultural beliefs of Teamwork, Trust, Transparency, Clarity, Courage, Customer Obsession, Growth Mindset, and Respect. 

The Main Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Account Team and Solutions Engineers to develop efficient architecture solutions for new customer deals and network expense recovery.
  • Develop collaborative planning solutions to aid in the long-term growth of the company from a network advancement and revenue perspective.
  • Improve network efficiencies by addressing latency, owned vs leased assets, and deployment of new technology. 
  • Drive revenue growth by identifying new near net assets in high revenue growth areas and expansion markets.
  • Create detailed plans providing service delivery solutions to customer or data center locations, including physical and network layer plans, maps, diagrams, and cost estimates.
  • Provide support through the implementation stages by performing capital budget/variance management and network design reviews. 
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and 6+ years of relevant experience 
  • 4+ years of related experience with a Master's degree 
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting with demonstrated proficiency in VLOOKUPs and pivot tables 
  • Proficiency in utilizing internal mapping tools for map-based design tasks 
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills with ability to delegate to internal project stakeholders and third-party vendor partners 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with and foundational understanding of internal mapping tools like ArcGIS or comparable for designing within detailed maps and diagrams to depict design plan initiatives 
  • Project Management or Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated experience driving process improvement utilizing such methodologies 
Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
