Position Description:
CLP Engineering (CLPE) is seeking a Senior Electrical Tester to join our Testing Team to perform mid/entry level inspections, testing, and maintaining electrical power equipment; Seeking a candidate with 5+ years of experience who is available for up to 75% travel. Due to the nature of our work as a Federal Contractor, candidates must be a US Citizen.
The Senior Electrical Tester will inspect, test, and maintain High, Medium, and Low electrical power equipment. Testers will work with electrical equipment, such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers/GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and variance of switches both manual and motor operated.
Colorado-based is preferred, however the Electrical Tester position can be located at other CLP Engineering locations, or remote in a state where CLP Engineering is registered
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create plans for testing apparatus.
  • Understand the theory behind and reason for testing with the ability to analyze results.
  • Instrument transformer tests such as CT's/PT's/CCVT's/MU's
  • Power transformer testing - Power Factor, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
  • Cable testing - VLF/TD/PD
  • Automatic transfer switch testing & troubleshooting
  • Low, Medium and High voltage switchgear, SF6 and vacuum circuit breaker testing
  • Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
  • Ability to perform complex troubleshooting
  • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.
  • Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
  • Knowledge and understanding of practical application of electrical theory and hazards in order to perform the job requirements successfully and safely.
  • Interact positively with customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills | Knowledge | Experience:
  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or related field, or previous military experience preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5+) years of relevant testing experience with:
    • Prescence of Voltage Verification
    • Contact Resistance
    • Insulation Resistance
    • Test Equipment Set Up
    • One-line Drawings
  • Previous NETA or NICET Level III or IV certification desired, or equivalent level of professional experience.
  • Must have good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel. Experience with PowerDB a plus.โ€ข
  • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Prefer OSHA 10 or 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Available to work overtime hours and travel to the field for extended time periods.
  • Able to work well both independently and as a contributing team member.
Work Authorization | Security Clearance:
  • You must be a US Citizen.
  • You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
  • A valid driver's license with a record that meets the CLP Fleet Policy is required.
Travel:
  • Up to 75% travel.
Compensation | Benefits:
  • CLPE offers an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
  • $10,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
  • Hourly payrate range: $45.00-$71.25 based on experience, plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
