This person will be within our Design group, within our Digital Business, within Information Technology, so your skills and experience will benefit our digital product team, plus you will have the opportunity to support A.I. and Analytics, Plans and Networks, Marketing, and other initiatives.

In this position you will first understand the needs of the people we serve, and our objectives to inform design of experiences that are accessible by all, building trust with health care consumers, patients, providers and clinicians, and others. This role is key for advancing our mission of making health care easier, for everyone, so life can be better. You will have varied, interesting work, ranging from standardizing, and establishing practices and standards to enable Design for Accessibility, to working alongside designers to ideate and test custom digital experiences and configured platforms. You will also wield A.I. during your work to not just accelerate, but amplify creativity, inclusion, and clarity of our products.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position works with teams that create innovative and intuitive health solutions, working directly with Digital Business leadership, digital product managers and other stakeholders to connect emotionally, build trust and develop lasting relationships with our patients. Focuses on understanding and clearly communicating needs of the people we serve and providing rationale to inform accessibility priorities using qualitative and quantitative insights. This role is the voice of Banner patients, providers and others. Leads Accessibility efforts for digital scope in partnership with team members in Marketing, Innovation and Product teams. Establishes and refines effective, repeatable Accessibility processes and trains teammates to facilitate and contribute to Accessibility, thereby multiplying value. Ultimately, this role enables design of experiences that makes health care easier, informed by data, and accessible by all.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Provides Accessibility expertise to support Scrum teams across Agile and Scrum processes, including up front advisement during discovery and design and during Quality Assurance (QA) reviews.

2. Participates in design critiques to receive and give feedback focusing on improving Accessibility.

3. Develops and applies digital design and usability processes to investigate technical accessibility considerations and issues.

4. Supports product teams in the remediation of Accessibility issues through analysis of digital products, including tactile methods, visual graphics, web, multimedia, voice response and conversational interaction.

5. Tests and analyzes design for Accessibility compliance, reports on findings and develops remediation solutions when necessary.

6. Practices and defines Accessibility methodologies, creating reusable, teachable frameworks and continuously teaching and mentoring Designers, Product Managers, Developers and other stakeholders to multiply our ability to inform accessible design with data.

7. Promotes Accessibility within the organization, advocating for “accessible by all” proactive mindset, methods and research.

8. Works within cross-functional team to understand expectations, priorities and necessary deliverables and ensures alignment of the implementation of Accessibility standards across various products and platforms.

9. Coordinates selection of subscriptions and manages vendor relationships and contracts to ensure team members have tools they need to engage research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess relevant knowledge as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a pertinent field, or an equivalent level of experience and education.

Must have 4 or more years of related work experience with at least two years of direct or matrixed team member leadership experience.

Must have deep experience in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and ADA Section 508 Accessibility standards and strong knowledge of WCAG success criteria, WAI-ARIA, Section 508, EN 301 549, and the difference between legal compliance and Accessibility that enables inclusion and diversity. Requires experience coordinating Accessibility audits internally and independently or aided by expert vendors and resulting VPAT and other documentation standards.

Requires experience integrating Accessibility within the product definition, design and testing processes – across the product lifecycle to proactively mitigate Accessibility defects through clear, sufficient documentation and testing. Experience integrating Accessibility within Design Systems and strong knowledge of assistive technologies such as Screen readers, magnifiers and alternative input devices for large and small devices (i.e., laptops, mobile devices, point of purchase). Requires Systems thinking and Service Design experience pertinent to our omnichannel digital experiences that enable ease of health care across many touch points, including positive impact within hospitals and clinics. Must be adept at planning design research and testing with people who have disabilities. Requires experience with FIGMA and effective Accessibility annotation.

Ability to clearly convey issues and solutions in conversation within product, design and engineering team members and deep experience negotiating, influencing and collaborating to build relationships that enable team success. Experience collaborating with large teams across functions and using Agile and Scrum ways of working. Must have strong storytelling skills and ability to problem-solve and work independently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of Accessibility as applied within health care contexts and in consideration of governmental guidelines is preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Estimated Pay Range:

$50.12 - $83.54 / hour Banner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted compensation range is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay Banner Health in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. This range is based on possible base salaries and does not include the value of our total rewards package. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity is achieved and maintained.
