Job Description

As an Advisor - Area Development, you will be responsible for meeting or exceeding revenue goals by managing, recruiting, and expanding volunteer and donor efforts throughout the area. You will also maximize funds raised for ALSAC, while increasing the support for and awareness of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Revenue & Fundraising

  • Achieve and exceed financial goals established by territory and area leadership.
  • Develop, manage, and grow multiple high-value fundraising events (galas, dinners, golf tournaments, etc.).
  • Implement national fundraising initiatives such as school programs, radiothons, multicultural events, and peer-to-peer campaigns.
  • Ensure event performance aligns with revenue growth targets and approved expense ratios.

Donor & Volunteer Relationship Building

  • Recruit, cultivate, and steward donors, volunteers, executives, and board-level supporters.
  • Manage a portfolio of donors and volunteers, maintaining regular engagement through personal outreach, written correspondence, and in-person visits.
  • Write personalized thank-you letters, support stewardship plans, and attend donor/volunteer appreciation events.

Event Planning & Committee Management

  • Lead, build, and support multiple active event committees to execute high-quality revenue-producing events.
  • Provide direction, motivation, and resources to volunteers to ensure operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with team members and committees to identify, cultivate, and solicit event sponsors and donors.

Marketing, Recruitment & Community Engagement

  • Develop and execute marketing, recruitment, and promotional plans for assigned fundraising events.
  • Utilize knowledge of market trends and community dynamics to drive participation and new business growth.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the St. Jude brand, ensuring compliance with brand standards in all activities.

Operational Excellence & Administration

  • Maintain accurate documentation of event contacts, donor interactions, and revenue records.
  • Prepare event communications such as invitations, follow-up letters, and stewardship materials.
  • Conduct research on prospective donors and partners; prepare sponsorship proposals.
  • Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency response responsibilities as assigned.

The portfolio of events, donors, and partners is subject to change based on organizational priorities, market opportunities, and team needs.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in fundraising, development, customer service, or sales. Bachelor's degree is preferred.

  • Demonstrated relationship management success and proven experience and success in peer-to-peer fundraising.

  • Ability to relate to donors and volunteers from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.

  • Demonstrated negotiating and listening skills.

  • Donor/customer-oriented with excellent writing, telephone, and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising software.

  • Demonstrates clear communication and the ability to influence others.

  • Travel is required, including periodic visits to Memphis (on average 4-6 times per year) and ability to travel frequently within the territory area by supporting events, volunteers and partners in the assigned territory. Involves travel 15%-20%. Working evenings and weekends is required, especially during event seasons and donor engagements.

  • Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required for this role.

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule to include working from our Territory Office located at 1350 Concourse Ave, Suite 563 Memphis, TN 38104 OR a remote position, with a requirement that the candidate be based in Litte Rock, AR.
