Compensation Range: $130,000–$185,000

Job Description:

  • Write and improve production Java code
  • Maintain existing Java services
  • Build occasional internal applications (Java backend / JavaScript frontend)
  • Improve system reliability, scalability, and performance
  • Improve caching, observability, and platform health
  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis after incidents
  • Prevent future outages through engineering improvements
  • Review architecture and influence design decisions
  • Partner closely with software engineering teams and mentor other engineers

Requirements:

  • 8 years of Software Engineering / SRE experience
  • Expert-level Java experience in a production environment
  • Experience writing net-new Java code AND maintaining existing Java services
  • Distributed systems experience
  • Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar messaging technologies
  • MongoDB experience (building applications that interact with it)
  • Experience supporting SaaS/cloud applications in production
  • Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience responding to production outages
  • Performance tuning and reliability improvement experience
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals
  • Experience improving observability, monitoring, and system health
