Remote Mockups information

What are remote mockups?

Remote mockups are digital representations or prototypes of products, interfaces, or designs that are created and reviewed by teams working remotely. These mockups help visualize how a final product will look and function, enabling collaboration and feedback without needing in-person meetings. Remote mockups are essential in remote work settings, allowing designers, developers, and stakeholders to communicate ideas efficiently and iterate on designs before development begins.

What is the difference between Remote Mockups vs Remote Graphic Designer?

AspectRemote MockupsRemote Graphic Designer
Primary FocusCreating visual prototypes and mockups for digital productsDesigning visual content for print and digital media
Skills & ToolsUI/UX tools like Figma, Adobe XD, SketchAdobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
Work EnvironmentCollaborative with developers and product teamsCreative environment with clients or marketing teams

Remote Mockups primarily focus on designing prototypes for digital interfaces, working closely with developers. Remote Graphic Designers create visual content across various media, often for marketing or branding. While both roles require strong design skills, Remote Mockups emphasize UI/UX tools and digital prototyping, whereas Remote Graphic Designers focus on visual aesthetics and print/digital media design.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Mockup Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Mockup Designer, you need a strong background in graphic design, user interface (UI), and user experience (UX) principles, typically supported by a relevant degree or portfolio of work. Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and collaboration platforms like Slack or Trello is commonly required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective remote communication are vital soft skills for collaborating with distributed teams and clients. These abilities ensure that high-quality, user-centered mockups are delivered efficiently, meeting project requirements and client expectations.

How does a Remote Mockups designer typically collaborate with distributed teams to ensure design consistency?

As a Remote Mockups designer, collaboration with distributed teams is usually facilitated through digital tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, along with communication platforms such as Slack or Zoom. Designers regularly participate in virtual stand-ups and feedback sessions to present mockups, gather input, and iterate on designs. Maintaining design consistency often involves adhering to shared design systems and documentation, which are updated collaboratively to ensure alignment across different team members and projects. This approach requires proactive communication, clear documentation, and flexibility to accommodate feedback from various stakeholders working in different locations.

UX Designer I / II

Renewed Vision

Job description

We're hiring a UX Designer at either the I or II level depending on your experience. Both roles sit within our design team and work closely with Product Managers, Developers, and other Stakeholders. Whether you're just building your craft or ready to take ownership of end-to-end design work, there's a meaningful seat at the table for you. This is a full-time remote position with no in-office requirement.

We design across multiple surfaces — Windows and Mac desktop apps, mobile apps, and web — so you'll have the opportunity to work across platforms and gain well-rounded experience.

UX Designer I — Growing Your Craft

This is an early-career role ideal for someone who wants to develop their skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. You'll work alongside experienced designers and product owners, contributing meaningfully from day one.

  • Participate in user research activities — interviews, surveys, and usability testing — to gather insights that shape design decisions
  • Collaborate with senior designers to create wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs aligned to user needs
  • Incorporate feedback from users and stakeholders through iterative design cycles
  • Build hands-on experience with industry-standard design tools, systems, and documentation practices
  • Partner with product managers and developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately
  • Contribute ideas in brainstorming sessions and design critiques
  • Stay curious: continuously learn and share emerging trends and best practices with the team

UX Designer II — Owning the Design Process

This is a mid-level role for someone ready to take ownership of projects and help raise the bar for the team. You'll lead design work end-to-end while mentoring junior team members and shaping how we design.

  • Own the end-to-end design process for specific projects, from research and ideation through high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes
  • Conduct user interviews, usability testing, and analytics evaluation — translating findings into actionable design improvements
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure design integrity throughout the development lifecycle
  • Analyze user feedback and performance metrics to continuously refine and enhance existing product designs
  • Mentor and support junior designers, fostering a culture of collaboration and learning
  • Contribute to and maintain design systems and style guides that ensure cohesion across all products
  • Champion innovative solutions by staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies in UX

What We're Looking For

  • Experience
    • 2+ years of experience in a UX design role (or equivalent)
    • A portfolio that demonstrates your design process and problem-solving, not just final screens
  • Platform Experience
    • We value breadth, but you don't need to be an expert everywhere. Strong depth in one platform with exposure to others is totally welcome.
    • Windows and/or Mac desktop application design
    • Mobile app design (iOS and/or Android)
    • Web application design
  • Design Systems
    • Demonstrated experience working with design systems — whether contributing to, consuming, or helping build one

Nice to Have

  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate concept development or rapid prototyping
