Job description

Position: Advisor Data Architect

Location: Remote (Needs to travel to client site when required with your own expenses)

Duration: Long term contract

Job Summary:

The Advisor Data Architect is responsible for managing the flow of data from various data sources. Develops Data Models on different data organization platforms like relational databases, big data that support the integration and organization of data across systems. Analyze and interpret data to create, review and ad hoc exhibits based on detailed data sets. Perform data mining and analysis that impacts forecasts and risk assumptions. Build and maintain actuarial models for analyzing healthcare claims, risk scores and demographic data.

Experience:

  • 12+ years of experience working with datasets with strong understanding on how data should be optimized within transactional, reporting, and big data architectures.
  • 7+ years of experience in health care industry working with extensive amounts of healthcare data (claim and clinical sides) and major databases

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Work with Business, Architects and System Analysts to fully understand the business requirements and translate them into Conceptual, Logical and Physical models.
  • Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models defining information requirements to meet end user needs.
  • Partner with development and QA teams to communicate the business rules, data models and ensure test cases target the quality and integrity of the data model.
  • Partner with DBAs to transform logical data models into physical database designs while optimizing the performance and maintainability of the physical database
  • Works closely with DBA on the DDLs creation, maintenance, and optimization of the database.
  • Analytical ability and business acumen to collect multiple sources of data and draw conclusions.
  • Responsible for building solutions involving large data sets using SQL methodologies
  • Has strong analytical SQL experience working with dimensional modeling

Qualification & Experience:

  • MS/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred and/or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of experience working with datasets with strong understanding on how data should be optimized within transactional, reporting, and big data architectures
  • 7+ years of experience in health care industry working with extensive amounts of healthcare data (claim and clinical sides) and major databases

Technical Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of data modeling and understanding of different data structures and their benefits and limitations under particular use cases.
  • Expert in any data modelling tools like Erwin, ER studio.
  • Familiarity with Healthcare Industry models (IBM’s UDMH, Teradata’s HCDM etc.)
  • Strong SQL skills to assist in the data analysis and discovery of the source data.
  • Has strong knowledge of large-scale search applications and building high volume data pipelines
  • Knowledge in Hadoop architecture, HDFS commands and experience designing & optimizing queries against data in the HDFS environment.
  • Experience working in agile environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to a constantly changing environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiatives.
  • Ability to apply mastery knowledge in one of the relational data bases (DB2, MSSQL, Teradata, Oracle 8i/9i/10g/11i)
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and shell scripting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate and document processes and workflows for use by various individuals of varying technical abilities
  • Ability to learn new tools with minimum guidance and work independently.
