Job description

At NorthBay Health the Uniformed Security Officer is responsible for promoting a safe healthcare environment by serving as a deterrent to criminal activity or behavior that violates NBHC policy. In general, Security Officers will be primarily assigned to NorthBay campuses to conduct rounds, provides escorts, assume fixed posts, open and secure entryways and exits and perform other duties as assigned. Their security and safety responsibilities extend to all medical facilities owned and/or operated by NorthBay HealthCare and individual assignments or responsibilities may be dependent on the activity, need for assistance or direction of the Security Director. The Uniformed Security Officer prepares reports documenting their response to calls for service.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  1. To provide a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  2. Helps to identify and resolve security related problems.
  3. Primarily assigned to NBHC hospitals but can have responsibility extended to all medical facilities owned and/or operated by NorthBay HealthCare and individual assignments or responsibilities may be dependent on the activity, need for assistance or direction of the Security Program Director.
  4. Reports will contain all the important facts of the incident known at the time and be neat, legible, free of spelling errors, accurate and grammatically correct.
  5. Interviews persons with complaints and makes proper disposition or directs them to the proper authorities.
  6. Gives advice and general information to inquiries from the public.
  7. Conducts patrols and/or assumes a fixed post.
  8. Enters or retrieves data from a computer terminal, PC or other keyboard device.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation Structure

NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1-5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.

NorthBay Health is primarily an onsite organization due to the nature of healthcare. Some roles may allow hybrid or remote work based on business needs.

Remote work is not supported in Washington, Ohio, Wyoming, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or outside of the United States.

Education:

  1. Possession of a high-school diploma of graduation or equivalent preferred.

Licensure:

  1. Possession of a valid motor vehicle license and willingness to operate motor vehicles in the course of employment.
  2. Must possess current and valid B.S.I.S. California Guard Card.

Skills:

  1. The ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people including the proper handling of emotional situations and needs.
  2. Working knowledge of PC computers and their programs.
  3. Uniformed Security Officers shall possess communication and conflict resolution skills before or upon the completion of their in-house training process.

Compensation: 

  • PM Shift Differential $1.38 additional per hour 
  • NOC Shift Differential $2.21 additional per hour 
  • Weekend Differential $0.75 additional per hour
