Job description

Head of GTM Data and Commercial Operations

Boulder, Colorado | Full-time in office

About the team

SumUp US is preparing for the next phase of growth, and we're looking for an experienced data, insights, and commercial operations leader to help get us there. We're building a unified GTM Data and Commercial Operations function that brings together Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Revenue Operations, and GTM Insights and Experimentation under one roof for the first time. This role exists because we're done with fragmented data, reactive firefighting, and half-solves. We need a single-threaded leader who can turn a complex, multi-team revenue engine into a proactive, AI-driven insight machine.

As Head of GTM Data and Commercial Operations, you'll sit on the US Leadership team and oversee the full data and commercial operations stack that powers how we acquire, grow, and retain merchants across the US market. You'll be the objective owner of what's working and what isn't, feeding insights, hypotheses, and recommendations to Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Engineering. This is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up, with real mandate, real scope, and accountability for the numbers that truly matter.

Take a look inside our Boulder office

What you'll do
  • Lead and unify the GTM Data and Commercial Operations organization spanning Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Revenue Operations, and GTM Experimentation setting clear ownership, rituals, and a prioritized roadmap
  • Build a single source of truth for core GTM metrics across acquisition funnels, sales productivity, retention, and merchant health scores, shifting the team from reactive requests to proactive strategic insight
  • Partner closely with US Platform Engineering and Run & Grow teams to design and deliver improvements to the data stack, tooling, and processes that drive measurable outcomes across acquisition, retention, and product efficiency
  • Champion an AI-heavy approach to GTM operations evaluating, piloting, and measuring AI-enabled tools and workflows that help Sales, Marketing, and Operations move faster and smarter, while maintaining the right governance and security guardrails
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, and Product to co-own improvements on our most important GTM metrics
You'll be great for this role if...
  • Extensive experience leading GTM Data, Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, or Growth Analytics functions at a senior level, with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams that span analytics engineering, RevOps, and BI
  • Demonstrated ability to turn fragmented, reactive analytics and operations work into a coherent roadmap that delivers measurable business outcomes, not just reports and dashboards
  • Strong command of modern GTM data and tooling stacks (e.g. Snowflake, dbt, Salesforce, BI platforms), with enough architectural depth to make sound trade-off decisions in partnership with Platform and Engineering teams
  • Comfort operating across both high-level strategy and hands-on detail with the ability to set direction while staying close enough to the work to unblock the team and make good calls
  • Experience working within global, multi-region organizations, balancing local speed and business needs with global alignment, data governance, and security requirements
  • A confident communicator who can push back on ad hoc requests when they come at the expense of longer-term priorities, and bring partners along on that journey
Why you should join SumUp
  • Opportunity to work with SumUppers globally on large-scale fintech products used by millions of businesses worldwide, from our Boulder office. This involves an office-first setup
  • Enrolment onto our Virtual Stock Option programme: you will own a stake in SumUp's future success
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: be part of a workplace that values and promotes diversity, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone's perspectives are respected and embraced
  • Generous time off: 22 days of paid vacation, plus an extra day each year up to 28 days, public holidays, quarterly Wellness Days, and special leaves
  • Health and life coverage: medical coverage via Cigna, plus life insurance
  • A dedicated annual L&D budget of $2,000 for your individual development, which can be used to attend conferences and/or advance your career through further education
  • Financial security: 401(k) retirement scheme with SumUp matching
  • Break4me: 1-month sabbatical after 3 years of service

Salary range: $225,000 - $250,000 base and variable, depending on experience
