Job description

TITLE:                      Director, Engineering

LOCATION:             Blockgraph, LLC, 1384 Broadway, Floor 20, New York, NY 10018

SALARY:                  $261,248 to $320,000 per year

DUTIES:

Responsible for leading a team of  engineers and spearheading the development of a massively scaled, cloud native P2P platform. Oversee and contribute to projects while maintaining deep technical knowledge and providing strategic guidance and industry knowledge. Manage multiple cross-functional projects and release cycles, including scheduling, task assignment, resource management and risk management. Serve as a point of escalation for making technical decisions. Build micro-service applications and conduct code reviews using Java and/orC++ programming languages. Use SQL and NoSQL databases to review schema and database performance to perform code and design reviews. Use Kafka or Kinesis to review system design. Partner with product management and other development teams to build world class software solutions. Make innovation recommendations and/or feature and functionality improvements based on knowledge of client use cases and customer feedback. Implement agile software development process. Contribute to Blockgraph's long-term strategy of peer to peer computing and decentralization. Drive optimization, testing, and tooling to improve the performance, availability, and scalability of the platform. Manage a team of engineers and mentor junior team members.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, plus 7 years of post-baccalaureate software engineering experience developing a P2P platform and building software solutions; 5 years of experience using Java or C++ programming languages to conduct code review; 3 years of experience managing a team of at least 3 engineers; 3 years of experience managing projects and release cycles, including scheduling, task assignment, resource management, and risk management; 3 years of experience building micro-service applications; 3 years of experience implementing Agile software development process; 2 years of experience using SQL and NoSQL databases to review schema and database performance to perform code reviews and design reviews; and 2 years of experience using Kafka or Kinesis to review system design. Must live within regular commuting distance from the Blockgraph office in NYC. Remote work permitted up to 80% of the time. 1 in-office day per week required.
