What is a Remote MES Solution Architect?

A Remote MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Solution Architect is a professional who designs and implements MES solutions for manufacturing organizations while working remotely. They analyze business requirements, create system architectures, and ensure MES platforms integrate seamlessly with existing processes and technologies. Their role also involves collaborating with stakeholders, managing technical teams, and ensuring that solutions meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. Working remotely, they use digital tools to communicate and oversee project development across different locations.

How does a Remote MES Solution Architect typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a project lifecycle?

As a Remote MES Solution Architect, you’ll frequently collaborate with cross-functional teams such as IT, operations, engineering, and external vendors. Communication is primarily conducted through video conferences, project management platforms, and shared documentation tools to ensure alignment on project requirements and timelines. You’ll often facilitate design workshops, clarify technical specifications, and provide guidance on best practices. Building strong remote relationships and proactively addressing potential misunderstandings are key to keeping projects on track. This collaborative environment allows you to drive solutions that meet both business and technical needs efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote MES Solution Architect, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote MES Solution Architect, you need a deep understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), process automation, and a background in engineering or computer science. Familiarity with common MES platforms (like Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, or GE Digital Proficy), programming languages (such as SQL, Java, or C#), and knowledge of industry standards is essential, along with relevant certifications. Strong analytical thinking, communication, and project management skills set top candidates apart in collaborating with cross-functional teams and clients remotely. These abilities are crucial for designing robust MES solutions that meet manufacturing needs, ensure system integration, and drive digital transformation initiatives across distributed environments.

Solution Architect
The Opportunity:
At a certain point, experience-based system design can start to look like clairvoyance. When you've developed so many systems that you can not only orchestrate the best solution for any technology-based challenge, but you can also anticipate and preempt future issues, you're a solutions architect. You've evolved your skills into strategy through a long path of software development accomplishments and the curiosity to understand how all of the pieces of an IT ecosystem fit together. Are you ready to use your combination of knowledge, skill, and experience to take on the toughest challenges in secure enterprise architecture for national security missions, including classified communications and Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC)?
As a Solution Architect on our team, you'll translate customer IT needs and future goals into actionable architecture plans by crafting design specifications, requirements, and integration strategies. With your guidance, we'll help transform the way national security organizations use technology, including secure mobility, modernization of legacy systems and the development of CSfC-aligned architectures and integration strategies. And what do you do next in a career where you've reached this level? You mentor the next set of engineers to help them grow into tomorrow's architects.
What You'll Do:
  • Provide technical leadership for specifying, designing, implementing, testing, accrediting, deploying, and sustaining enterprise system and service architectures in distributed, net-centric environments.
  • Develop solution architectures, technical roadmaps, and design documentation integrating systems across multiple domains.
  • Lead stakeholder workshops and technical interchange meetings, translating complex architectures into clear, actionable language.
  • Incorporate security and compliance frameworks, such as DoD STIGs, RMF, and NIST 800-53/171, into design baselines.
  • Stay current on technologies, such as secure mobility platforms, encryption, mobile device management (MDM), VPN solutions, and CSfC-compliant components
  • Define system-of-systems integration approaches, secure enclave architectures, segmentation strategies, and enterprise-level governance models

Work with us to transform the future of digital platforms.
Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience leading or supporting enterprise or mission-system architecture for defense, intelligence, or federal programs
  • Experience developing solution architectures and technical roadmaps integrating systems across multiple domains
  • Experience producing or governing architecture artifacts, such as system views, interface specs, or decision records
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, such as DoD STIGs, RMF, or NIST 800-53/171, infrastructure integration, networking, data flows and segmentation
  • Ability to lead workshops and briefings, coordinate schedules, manage risks, and validate implementation against architecture intent
  • Ability to influence technical direction and build consensus
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM or Management field
  • CompTIA Security+ CE or INCOSE CSEP Certification

Nice If You Have:
  • 10+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale architectures within DoD environments
  • Experience designing CSfC-compliant architectures and implementing them in accordance with CSfC requirements and NIAP Protection Profiles
  • Knowledge ofsecure mobility, enterprise security automation, enclave boundary protection, DevSecOps, CI/CD, Jenkins, Terraform, or Ansible
  • TS/SCI clearance preferred
  • CISSP, CISM, INCOSE ESEP, or ITIL Foundation Certification

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secretclearance is required.
