Location: Fully Remote (Candidates must reside in California, Arizona, or Colorado)
Compensation: $70-$90/hour

LHH is partnering with a highly respected Orange County law firm to identify an experienced Patent Agent with a strong background in medical device technologies. This is a unique opportunity to join a well-established Intellectual Property practice that maintains a fully remote environment and is known for its collaborative culture and long-term employee retention.
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of preparing and prosecuting patent applications and will enjoy the technical and procedural aspects of patent practice in a high-volume environment.
Responsibilities
  • Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications related to medical device technologies.
  • Prepare responses to USPTO Office Actions and communicate with examiners as needed.
  • Manage a substantial patent prosecution workload, including a large docket of active matters and response deadlines.
  • Analyze inventions and collaborate with inventors, clients, and attorneys to prepare high-quality patent filings.
  • Conduct patentability assessments and assist with prosecution strategy.
  • Track and manage patent deadlines while ensuring timely submission of applications and responses.
  • Work independently while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Handle patent prosecution matters from initial invention disclosure through issuance.
Qualifications
  • Registered Patent Agent with the USPTO.
  • Minimum 5+ years of dedicated patent prosecution experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Medical device patent prosecution is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting complex technologies involving mechanical, chemical, or physics-based innovations.
  • Prior law firm experience handling substantial patent prosecution workloads.
