Job description

Position Summary

The Market Development Manager will be responsible for developing new business opportunities with North American healthcare and medical device manufacturers. This role focuses on establishing long-term partnerships with OEMs and contract manufacturers, identifying new tooling opportunities, and coordinating closely with Wellmei's engineering and manufacturing teams in China to deliver competitive injection mold and plastic injection molding solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities with North American healthcare and medical device manufacturers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, including purchasing, sourcing, engineering, and project management teams.
  • Promote Wellmei's injection mold manufacturing and plastic injection molding capabilities to healthcare and medical device customers.
  • Collect customer RFQs, clarify technical and commercial requirements, and coordinate with Wellmei's engineering team in China to prepare competitive quotations.
  • Lead commercial discussions, contract negotiations, and pricing activities to secure new business.
  • Conduct regular customer visits, business reviews, and technical presentations across North America.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers throughout the sales process.
  • Coordinate internally to ensure timely responses to customer inquiries and project requirements.
  • Support resolution of customer concerns by working collaboratively with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
  • Represent Wellmei at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to generate new business opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to support strategic business development initiatives.
  • Achieve annual sales objectives and contribute to Wellmei's long-term growth in the North American healthcare market.


Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in purchasing, sales, supplier management, account management, or project management within the North American healthcare or medical device industry.
  • Proven ability to develop customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and commercial negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel frequently throughout North America.
  • Ability to travel internationally, including visits to China 1–2 times per year.

Preferred

  • Previous experience with leading healthcare or medical device companies such as ResMed, Abbott, Omron Healthcare, HoMedics, or similar manufacturers.
  • Experience working with injection molds, plastic injection molding, tooling suppliers, or plastic components is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with supplier sourcing, new product development (NPI), or tooling procurement processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.

  • Global Industry Resources – Access to Wellmei's long-established relationships with leading international suppliers of hot runner systems, mold steels, injection molding equipment, and other key manufacturing technologies.
  • Dedicated Project Management – Professional project managers coordinate tooling schedules, engineering changes, trial plans, sampling, and production progress to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Experienced Manufacturing Team – Support from more than three decades of expertise in precision mold manufacturing and injection molding for global OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
