Job description

It's More Than a Career, It's a Mission.

Our people are the foundation of our success. By joining our growing team at Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a subsidiary of McKesson, you will have the opportunity to become part of one of the largest community-based cancer programs to advance oncology treatments and improve outcomes for cancer patients across the globe. We look for mission-driven candidates who have a desire to advance the fight against cancer and make a difference in the lives of patients diagnosed with cancer every day.

Our Mission

People who live with cancer - those who work to prevent it, fight it, and survive it - are at the heart of every decision we make. Bringing the most innovative medical minds together with the most passionate caregivers in their communities, we are transforming care and personalizing treatment. Through clinical excellence and cutting-edge research, SCRI is redefining cancer care around the world.

Our Clinical Scientist is primarily responsible for providing scientific assistance and support for the Sarah Cannon Medical Directors and study teams who oversee trials conducted by SCRI. Your key responsibilities will include providing clinical, therapeutic and scientific expertise to the study team, supporting the creation of trial deliverables, and ongoing medical data review with a specific focus on patient safety and efficacy to ensure that the data is coherent, complete, and accurate so that it is suitable to meet study deliverables. You will follow standard operating procedures, ICH-GCP, and all applicable regulatory requirements.

This is a remote position based in the US; relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available.

Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Serve as the scientific point of contact for the study team on both industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated trials

  • Collaborate with medical writing during the development of clinical study protocols and attend protocol development meetings

  • Perform medical and scientific review of clinical study protocols, informed consent forms, investigator brochures, case report forms, clinical study reports, TFL shells, TFLs, and other study documentations and publications

  • Perform medical data review and assessments of safety and efficacy data

  • Scientifically review clinical research data including patient demographics, medical and disease history, concomitant medications, laboratory values, adverse events, disease response verification, and overall review to enhance data quality

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications needed include:

  • Bachelor's Degree (4-year program) required

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience analyzing data and science in clinical research and/or laboratory-based research or within the pharmaceutical or CRO environment

  • Prior work experience in a highly-detailed role such as nursing or scientific research

  • Prior work experience in a collaborative environment taking initiatives when needed such as process improvement

Preferred Experience includes:

  • Experience in oncology clinical research and/or oncology-focused laboratory-based research

  • Familiarity with medical data review is preferred
