Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer II
Location: Remote- Must live in Illinois, Wisconsin or Indiana and be in CST zone.
Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire
Pay range: 110-120/K
DESCRIPTION:
The Mechanical Engineer II position provides applications and mechanical engineering support to sales, and project management.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of related experience including working directly in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
Travel up to 25-50%- mainly United States, possibly to Canada. Most are day trips, but could be up to a week for an installation.
Must live within an hour of an airport.
Familiarity with Coding and Marking equipment, and or food, beverage, or pharmaceutical packaging equipment is a major advantage.
Excellent communication skills.
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
• Provide technical expertise to integrate printers into client packaging machines.
• Performs site audits of client packaging machinery to determine the feasibility of integrating printers.
• Creates concise trip reports to clearly outline client requirements, scope of supply responsibility, and the physical application requirements.
• When necessary, create and commissions custom designed mounting hardware to integrate Printers into client packaging machines.
• Creates manufacturing CAD drawings for design concepts following generally accepted drawing standards with respect to dimensioning and tolerance.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including CAD drawings, to ensure systems can be correctly installed, and maintained in the field.
• Diligently archives completed drawings in the AE database ensuring revision control is maintained.
• Provides design and manufacturing lead time estimates for design content and works to meet estimated time frames.
• Works with purchasing and manufacturing vendors to address questions or issues that might arise during the hardware manufacturing process.
• Supports first installations of complex hardware designs, sales calls, site visits, and project managers as necessary.
• Use standard Project Management & Engineering Group templates for trip reports, drawing transmittals and any other type of communication in which a template is defined.
• Update active project data in Salesforce.com.
• Provide weekly workload updates to manager.
