What is a remote measurement engineer?

Remote Measurement Engineers are professionals who specialize in designing, implementing, and maintaining systems that collect and analyze data from remote locations. They utilize various technologies such as sensors, data loggers, and communication networks to monitor and measure physical conditions or performance metrics from a distance. Their work is crucial in industries like oil and gas, environmental monitoring, and utilities, where on-site data collection may be difficult or hazardous. Remote Measurement Engineers ensure the accuracy and reliability of the collected data, enabling informed decision-making and efficient operations.

How does a remote measurement engineer typically collaborate with on-site engineering teams and field technicians?

Remote Measurement Engineers often work closely with on-site teams to calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain measurement systems from a distance. Collaboration usually happens via video conferences, remote desktop tools, and cloud-based data platforms, allowing engineers to provide real-time support and analysis. Regular communication is key, as remote engineers may need to interpret sensor data, guide field technicians through complex procedures, and ensure that measurement standards are met without being physically present. Building strong remote working relationships and maintaining clear documentation are essential to success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote measurement engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Measurement Engineer, you need a solid background in instrumentation, data analysis, and engineering principles, usually supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with remote sensing technologies, data acquisition systems, and software such as MATLAB or LabVIEW is commonly required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you excel in troubleshooting and collaborating with remote teams. These skills are crucial for ensuring accurate measurements, reliable data transmission, and successful project outcomes in distributed or off-site environments.

About the Role

As part of the Strategic Growth organization, this role supports sales efforts (new, upsell, and renewals) for new and emerging products, including API integrations and AI agents. You'll also act as the key technical CRM and RevOps advisor, demonstrating how native CRM integrations and the RainFocus Sales Module drive pipeline velocity, governed audience acquisition, and high-level business ROI directly to CROs, CMOs, and CRM Admins.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Architect and deliver technical demonstrations of the RainFocus Sales Module to showcase ease of use and revenue ROI to C-level buyers (CRO, CMO, CFO)

  • Map complex enterprise CRM workflows, including territory hierarchies, quota limits, and multi-level approval chains

  • Address technical objections from Salesforce Admins and IT Security regarding OAuth scopes, read/write permissions, and data security (SOC 2 Type II)

  • Transition technical client requirements to the services team via accurate pre-sales scoping and SOW creation, defining support vs. delivery task ownership

  • Manage external relationships with technical buyers (RevOps, Marketing Ops, CRM Admins) to build long-term strategic partnerships

  • Identify product gaps or custom data-mapping needs and coordinate directly with Product and Engineering teams to influence the roadmap

  • Deliver competitive intelligence on digital signals and CRM integrations to drive account expansion

  • Collaborate with Client Success and Support to ensure excellent service delivery post-sale

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales, solutions engineering, or implementation, with 3+ years specifically in CRM/Salesforce ecosystems (event industry experience is secondary)

  • Deep expertise in Salesforce configuration, API push/pull sync dynamics, OAuth scopes, and data hygiene

  • Experience presenting technical integration concepts and handling objections from C-level executives and technical gatekeepers

  • Strong leadership skills to own the technical sales process and manage multiple enterprise deal cycles in parallel

  • Experience creating detailed technical proposals, integration mapping, SOWs, and RFP/RFI responses

  • BA/BS degree; willingness to travel 10-40%

Personal Characteristics:
  • The best candidates for this position will have strong chemistry and a culture fit within RainFocus. They are comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and possess the following qualities:

    • Team-player

    • Self-motivated

    • Strong Communicator

    Success Measures

    • Seamless alignment of client territory/quota structures with minimal integration delays

    • Reduced friction and rapid security/CRM clearance from technical buyers

    • Growth in Sales Module bookings and successful pre-sales to delivery handoffs

Location/Travel
This remote role can be based anywhere in the United States. Travel may be required up to 40% for onsite client events, meetings, and postmortems.

Why work at RainFocus?
At RainFocus we delight millions of attendees at large-scale events by delivering better insights, experiences, and marketing. We were able to pivot our product and services offering in 2020 to continue growing and serving new clients and events.
