What is a remote Matlab Simulink engineer?

Remote Matlab Simulink jobs are positions that allow professionals to work from home or any remote location, using Matlab and Simulink software to design, simulate, and test engineering systems. These roles are common in industries like automotive, aerospace, robotics, and electronics, where model-based design is essential. Typical tasks may include developing algorithms, creating simulations, analyzing data, and collaborating with teams virtually. Employers look for candidates with strong programming skills in Matlab, experience with Simulink, and a background in engineering or applied sciences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote Matlab Simulink engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Matlab Simulink Engineer, you need strong expertise in control systems, simulation, and modeling, usually supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Proficiency in Matlab, Simulink, and related toolboxes, as well as familiarity with version control systems like Git, is essential; certifications in Matlab or Simulink can be advantageous. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective remote communication are standout soft skills for this role. These skills ensure accurate model development, seamless collaboration across distributed teams, and successful project delivery in a virtual environment.

What are some common challenges faced when working remotely as a Matlab Simulink engineer, and how can they be managed?

Remote Matlab Simulink engineers often encounter challenges such as coordinating complex model development with distributed teams, managing large file transfers, and ensuring version control consistency. Effective collaboration tools, clear communication protocols, and robust version control systems like Git can help address these obstacles. Regular virtual meetings and screen-sharing sessions also facilitate troubleshooting and knowledge sharing, ensuring everyone stays aligned and productive despite the remote setup.

Model-Based Systems Engineer, Mid
The Opportunity:
Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your technical skills with big-picture thinking to make an impact in national defense? You understand your customer's environment and how to develop the right systems for their mission. Your ability to translate real-world needs into technical specifications makes you an integral part of delivering a customer-focused engineering solution.
As a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) on our team, you have the chance to create, integrate, and apply interdisciplinary digital models of products from concept throughout the product lifecycle. You will provide engineering technical direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline required to meet technical objectives. You have the chance to design model-based systems and develop digital twin models and architectures in support of government defense systems. Your technical expertise will be vital as you evaluate and modernize how our clients go about linking digital tools and techniques with system engineering, fostering a new way of cybersecurity and product development. You'll develop your skills in MBSE while gaining experience across a complex, integrated system. Grow your skills by merging your system and digital engineering skills to create new and innovative solutions for our clients. Join our team and help turn requirements into accomplishments that drive change.
Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • 3+ years of experience with systems engineering and integration, and MBSE
  • 3+ years of experience using digital engineering tools to design DoD systems
  • Experience with architecting solutions from user requirements and use cases to be applied across a systems engineering life cycle
  • Experience with modeling tools, including Magic Draw or Cameo, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or IBM Rhapsody, and with the practical application of Unified Modeling Language (UML) or Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
  • Knowledge of modular open systems approach (MOSA) design principles and technologies, DoD architecture standards and framework, and Agile systems engineering methods and tools
  • Ability to use MBSE tools and processes to create and manage tailored MBSE artifacts that capture analysis and the resulting engineering decisions and trades made during acquisition and development
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, dynamic team environment, including internal staff, external contractors, and government clients to increase the use of MBSE for client acquisition programs
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Object Management Group (OMG) Certified System Modeling Language Professional (OCSMP) Model User or Builder Certification or INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional Certification, including ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP Certification

Nice If You Have:
