Job Description

Hello! We are Premier Academy Walnut, a tutoring center committed to providing students with an enriching, well-rounded experience to help them achieve their academic goals. As we continue to grow, we are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team and contribute to our mission.
Expectations

 As a private tutor, you are expected to be knowledgeable in all areas of mathematics relevant to grades 8–12. These include subjects such as: 
  • Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus
  • AP Math courses (AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Statistics)
  • Structure of the SAT Math section, including both the calculator and no-calculator portions, and be able to teach test-taking strategies, time management, and common question types. 
What We’re Looking For in a Teacher:

  • Demonstrates strong work ethic: well-organized, well-prepared, and punctual.
  • Ability to develop and implement engaging lesson plans.
  • Adaptability in teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships and mentor students effectively.
  • Long-term commitment (for the full school year or summer session).
  • Flexible availability to accommodate students’ schedules, with coordination around your availability.
  • At least 2+ years of teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Bonus Qualifications:
    • CBEST certification or a primary/secondary teaching credential.
    • Experience with the Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD).
Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 instruction (maximum of 1:3 students, though most sessions will be 1:1).
  • Develop and implement customized lesson plans, tailored to individual students’ needs.
  • Assign and review homework and quizzes as appropriate.
  • Keep detailed records of tutoring sessions using Premier-provided forms.
  • Motivate students by setting clear expectations, conducting progress checks, and offering regular feedback.
  • Submit periodic progress reports for each student.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Director to address and improve students’ academic progress.
