Job description

The Recurring Remote Production Support Content - Talent Statistician (Talent Stats) will play a key role in helping shape the broadcast of a sports event by effectively communicating important statistics and game trends to announcers and graphics producers. This role requires a self-driven person, proficient in researching and preparing for key storylines, rules, matchup history, potential records at stake, and other relevant information from game-to-game. The Talent Stats has advanced knowledge of the sports rules, team positions, scoring, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a live broadcast setting. This role is remote based without a corporate office location.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and understand the storylines and statistics of each team.

  • Confirm Starting lineups, officials, and any other pregame information needs of the production crew.

  • Be prepared to describe the previous play, the players/positions/uniform numbers involved and the outcome of the play.

  • Identify trends and statistics that help tell the story of the game.

  • Communicate stats and trends to announcers effectively without interrupting or intruding on their flow of the game. Answer any questions the announcers may have.

  • Concisely communicate stats and trends to Graphics Producers over headset. 

  • Support the Graphics Producer by answering questions and being prepared with key information from previous plays.

  • Work with teams’ SID/PR people to get information or answers to high priority questions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Basic sports knowledge including format/rules of the game.

  • Ability to follow the game including in-game trends.

  • Careful attention to detail in striving for 100 percent accuracy.

  • Clear, concise, and comprehensive verbal and written communication skills.

  • The ability to work within a team atmosphere consistently being visible and accessible.

  • Conduct oneself with professionalism and integrity within company guidelines and policies.

  • Adaptable, flexible, and motivated to drive results in new and changing environments.

  • Possess a strong computer background with ability to network and troubleshoot.

  • Self-motivated individual who strives to constantly improve processes with new or more efficient uses of technology.

  • Provide technical maintenance for assigned systems and system components.

  • Strong self and time management skills.

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a live production environment.

  • Ability to work weekends, nights and holidays, and travel, when required.

  • An advanced understanding of television production.

  • Strong math skills

  • Extensive sport knowledge including historical information

  • Has worked previously in a stats or graphics role

  • Strong communication, preparation, and organizational skills

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
