Relocation is eligible for this role to Austin, MN.
This position will report to the FSQ Corporate Manager of Food Safety & Vendor Compliance.
This developmental role provides high visibility and skill development equipping the incumbent for subsequent roles in the Food Safety & Quality(FSQ) function, which will require a willingness to transition to roles of differing responsibilities and likely relocation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The person in these positions:
  • Holds responsibility for evaluation and auditing quality, sanitation and food safety systems of selected suppliers, co-manufacturers, warehouses, brand licensing manufacturers and Hormel facilities.
  • Assists the FSQ Corporate Manager of Food Safety & Vendor Compliance and other team members in conducting sanitation and food safety audits at assigned plants.
  • Has good working knowledge of pre-operational and operational activities. Applicable programs include but are not limited to HACCP, Preventive Controls, Allergen Control Program, Sanitation, Chemical Controls, microbiological testing of finished products, Environmental Swabbing Programs, etc.
  • Must have an understanding of Regulatory requirements (e.g. USDA, FDA, EPA, etc.) relating to sanitation, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Food Safety.
  • Must be willing and capable of taking on project work as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • A record of at least 2 years of successful plant FSQ experience.
  • Plant food safety and quality sanitation experience and responsibility.
  • A pattern of initiative.
  • A pattern of leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision making, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel 70 - 90%.
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Applicants must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visa.

Preferred
  • A bachelor's degree in food science, biology, microbiology, animal science, or mathematics

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range is between $82,500 - $115,000 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will, depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
