The Sr. Manager, R&D Program Management drives portfolio excellence and change management across Innovation, New Product Development, and Sustaining Engineering. This role leads high-impact, cross-functional efforts that enhance portfolio value, accelerate time-to-market, transform operational effectiveness, and ensure data-driven investment decisions.

This strategic role serves as the single point of contact for R&D operations, Portfolio Insights, Project Management Best Practices, and Design Control + Global Product Development System (GPDS) process. The Sr. Manager also serves as a key liaison for BD excellence and continuous improvement, integrating advanced technologies, including AI, to elevate PMO capabilities and decision-making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Portfolio Management & Insights

  • Own portfolio health, metrics, and reporting across all programs

  • Own portfolio prioritization and scoring

  • Implement and optimize portfolio management tools and dashboards

  • Present portfolio performance/health and risks to leadership and governance forums

- Process Excellence & Governance

  • Establish and maintain design control and product delivery process standards

  • Ensure governance forums operate effectively and drive decision making

  • Promote PM best practices, templates, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Integrate AI and advanced analytics to enhance forecasting and operational efficiency

- Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Recruit, develop, and manage portfolio analysts and change management PM

  • Mentor, train, and support NPD and SE project managers on execution, risk management, and resource allocation

  • Influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to align priorities and resolve discrepancies

- Resource & Financial Planning

  • Oversee resource allocation and budget management across portfolio

  • Collaborate with Finance on long-range planning and investment analysis

  • Provide training to functional leaders to ensure accurate resource allocations in Oneplan

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years in R&D portfolio/program management in technical or regulated environment

  • Expertise in portfolio tools (OnePlan, PowerBI, MS Project) and performance metrics

  • Experience with design control and product development processes

  • Proven people management and mentoring capability

  • Strategic thinking with cross-functional influence skills

  • Excellent communication across all levels

  • Up to 20% travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical device industry experience

  • Project management certification (PMP, PgMP)

  • AI/advanced analytics integration experience
