Job description


At NorthBay Health, the Revenue Cycle Management Analyst I is responsible for the management and monitoring of revenue, charges, and revenue cycle internal and external customers to ensure established goals are met while adhering to federal and state regulations, policies of external payers, coding rules and guidelines. Exercise independent decisions using analytical and problem-solving skills. Provides critical analytical and negotiation support with respect to third party payer reimbursement contracts. Works closely with the analysts in the other Revenue Cycle Management Departments to ensure effective workflow and process. Maintains strong working knowledge of operational policies and procedures related to accounts receivable management as well. Responsible for evaluating, recommending and assisting with implementation of systems solutions to enhance the automation of accounts receivable management. Performs audits designed to ensure integrity, quality and control over the billing processes. Assists with training and education on the information systems functionality and billing and coding practices.
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, computer sciences/software development, finance/business, math, or other degree requiring complex data analysis from an accredited university or college; or, in lieu of degree in one of these specified majors, a bachelor's degree in any major plus 3 years' directly related experience in revenue cycle reporting or healthcare finance reporting and analytics.

Licensure:
  • An HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Rep. (CRCR) certification must be obtained within nine months of hire date.

Experience:
  • Experience with database reporting and interfaces required.

Skills:
  • Strong organizational and meeting facilitation skills. Strong project management capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret regulatory information related to healthcare finance and revenue cycle.
  • Proficient in SQL preferred. MS office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access required.
  • Knowledge of internet and government websites required.

Hours of Work:
  • 8 hours per day. Consistent attendance and work at the agreed upon hours of work is required.

Compensation:
  • $34 to $41 per hour based on years of experience doing the duties of the role.

Work Location Requirement:
  • This position may be performed onsite or remotely; however, onsite work is preferred based on business needs. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who are able to work onsite and are located within a reasonable commuting distance.

Remote Work Eligibility:
  • This position is open to candidates located within the continental United States. Due to state-specific employment requirements and workers' compensation regulations, we are unable to support remote work arrangements in the following locations: Washington, Ohio, Wyoming, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Additional Basic Skill Requirements:
The Revenue Cycle Management Analyst I is expected to know these skills when hired into this job:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in listening, talking and writing.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Access and Word.
  • PC literate; this includes accessing bulletin boards or eligibility files, websites, and shared drives and folders on the NorthBay network to utilize/edit forms, on-line reports, etc. This also includes ability to copy and paste from host systems to documents.
  • Ability to relate cordially with co-workers, employers, patients, providers and others.
  • Knowledge of all key data elements (CPT, HCPCS, Rev Codes) and data flow of all elements within the Charge Master and other related files.
  • Knowledge of claims processing and remittance data.
  • Knowledge of Medicare regulations.
  • Knowledge of APC's and other payment methodologies that drive charge master updates.

The Revenue Cycle Management Analyst I will be taught and expected to learn the following within the 90-day introductory period:
  • Knowledge of the NorthBay computerized financial and clinical systems.
  • Knowledge of NorthBay's departments and programs.
  • Knowledge of billing policies and procedures as they relate to revenue integrity.
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle management, data development, and interpretation.

Compensation Structure
NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1-5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.
