Job description

Our ITAM Hardware Analyst serves as the primary Discovery and CMDB Administrator, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of IT infrastructure data. Our Analyst configures and maintains automated discovery tools, such as ServiceNow ITOM, to populate and support the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). They oversee hardware and software lifecycle data quality, supports ITIL processes, and tracks approved hardware models to uphold IT standards. Additionally, this position administers the application-layer maintenance of servers used by the ITAM Program, including ServiceNow Discovery Mid Servers. This ITAM Hardware Analyst provides teams with real-time inventory, portfolio, security, and compliance data essential to internal operations and government contract requirements.
Salary Range$75,000 ~ $90,000.The base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may fall outside of this range.

Employees within 45 miles of WPS Headquarters (1717 W. Broadway in Madison, WI, 53713) will be expected to be able to work in office 2 days a week on a regular basis.

  • Can administer and optimize ServiceNow Discovery and the CMDB, including configuring credentials, schedules, patterns, and sensors to ensure accurate and automated population of configuration data.
  • Like to manage IT asset lifecycles for hardware, support procurement research, track deployments, maintain inventory records, and oversee maintenance, retirement, and disposal documentation.
  • Have developed and maintained governance policies, data standards, asset owner training materials, and CI relationship mappings to maintain high accuracy and data integrity.
  • Enjoy managing system integrations between the CMDB, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and enterprise tools (i.e., SCCM, InTune, and Nutanix) to support reliable data flow and operational visibility.
  • Have developed and maintained reporting and auditing tools, including dashboards and compliance audits that monitor CMDB health, data completeness, and asset accuracy.
  • Would like to be accountable for the application layer of the ServiceNow Mid Servers and others related to the ITAM Program, including installation, patching, and maintenance of applications on devices and service accounts.
  • Like to participate in implementation and enhancement of ITAM tools and automation initiatives.
  • Have supported employee onboarding, transfers, and offboarding asset processes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to Department of Defense restrictions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent compensation of education and/or experience.
  • ITIL v4 Foundations OR CHAMP, CITAM certification.
  • 3 or more years of experience in IT Asset Management, IT Operations, Desktop Support or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience administering an Asset Management platform (i.e., ServiceNow Discovery / CMDB / HAM Pro).
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of IT Asset lifecycle management governance, tracking, and reporting from procurement through disposal.
  • Server administration experience, including application layer management involving firewalls, ports, protocols, security account management and patching/vulnerability management.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of NIST 800-53, 800-171 or similar control requirements, System Inventory management best practices, governance and testing.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical customers/asset owners.
  • Strong analytical ability for managing data, forecasting budget impacts and interpreting contract terms of use.
