Job Description
Job Summary:
Mid-level engineer who independently executes troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support activities for industrial automation systems of moderate complexity. Works with minimal supervision while following established support processes and SLAs. Provides advanced diagnostics, root cause analysis, system recovery, upgrades, and preventative maintenance. Begins developing specialization in specific platforms, technologies, and projects and may offer guidance to junior engineers. Contributes to improving knowledge base articles, service tools, and internal workflows.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Independently perform advanced troubleshooting, system recovery, and root cause analysis for automation, robotics, and machine vision systems.
• Execute onsite and remote preventative maintenance, control system upgrades, component replacements, and system optimizations.
• Identify risks, recurring issues, life-cycle concerns, customer-impact trends, and potential upgrade opportunities; recommend corrective and preventative actions.
• Maintain detailed service documentation, system configurations, ticket notes, and compliance-required records in GxP environments.
• Contribute to spare parts order processing, the development of service procedures, knowledge base content, standard work, and escalation workflows.
• Interpret and create technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and configuration documents to support hardware and software diagnostics.
• Support both external ongoing customer relationships and global internal cross-team collaboration.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent hands-on technical experience. • Certifications in relevant automation platforms preferred.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Willingness to work on-call as needed.
• Valid driver's license. Required Skills:
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and tools in at least three of the following areas:
• Mechanical design and build
• Electrical design and build
• Robotics design and programming
• Control systems and programming
• Data systems design and implementation
• Machine Vision design and implementation
• Machine assembly and installation
• Software Development and integration
• Validation process design and execution
• Ability to independently troubleshoot moderately complex issues.
• Ability to create, interpret, and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and configuration documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize competing demands.
• Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to provide guidance or informal mentorship to junior engineers.
• Strong risk management awareness.
