What does a remote machine vision engineer do?

A Remote Machine Vision Engineer designs, develops, and implements computer vision systems that enable machines to interpret visual information, often working from a remote location. Their tasks include creating algorithms for image processing, integrating hardware like cameras, and collaborating with teams to solve automation or inspection challenges. They may work in industries such as manufacturing, robotics, or healthcare, using technologies like deep learning and neural networks. Remote Machine Vision Engineers typically use tools such as Python, OpenCV, and TensorFlow, and communicate with their teams via digital platforms. This role requires both strong programming skills and a deep understanding of image analysis techniques.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote machine vision engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Machine Vision Engineer, you need expertise in computer vision, image processing, programming (such as Python or C++), and a relevant engineering or computer science degree. Familiarity with frameworks like OpenCV, deep learning libraries (TensorFlow or PyTorch), and experience with cloud-based collaboration tools are typically required. Job description

At Capsa Healthcare, we're engineering better care.

Healthcare professionals rely on our solutions every day to deliver exceptional patient care, and we're proud to create the innovative technologies that help them do it. From mobile computing workstations to medication management and pharmacy automation solutions, Capsa Healthcare is transforming the healthcare experience for clinicians and patients around the world. Learn more about our solutions at www.capsahealthcare.com.

We are seeking a Test Engineer to lead quality assurance for central pharmacy fulfillment deployments from Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) through Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and post-go-live support. This is a unique opportunity to shape critical technologies that healthcare professionals depend on every day.

This position reports to the VP of Solutions Delivery & Support and is a REMOTE role. This role requires 80% - 100% travel. Proximity to an airport is preferred.

Why Join Capsa?

When you join Capsa Healthcare, you're joining a team dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and meaningful impact. Your work will directly support caregivers, improve clinical workflows, and help healthcare organizations provide better patient outcomes.

We are a global organization that values work-life balance, continuous improvement, and empowering employees to do their best work. If you're looking for an opportunity to apply your expertise to technology that truly makes a difference, we'd love to hear from you.

As the Test Engineer, you will:

  • Design and lead FAT test strategy and protocols in partnership with systems integrators and hardware vendors; prepare comprehensive test plans that validate system architecture, hardware functionality, software integration, and interface performance prior to shipment to customer sites.
  • Own on-site SAT execution, including test case development, test environment setup, defect tracking, and sign-off. Coordinate with customer IT, pharmacy operations, and clinical stakeholders to ensure acceptance criteria are clear and met.
  • Conduct systems integration testing across hardware (sorters, vision systems, pick-and-place mechanisms, weighing scales) and software (dispenser logic, interface engines, pharmacy management system connectivity, HL7/NCPDP integrations, middleware).
  • Lead root-cause analysis on failed test cases; work cross-functionally with software engineers, hardware teams, integration specialists, and vendors to identify, prioritize, and resolve issues before go-live.
  • Define and document regression test suites for post-go-live validation, particularly for hotfixes, middleware updates, and configuration changes that impact system behavior.
  • Support post-go-live quality monitoring; conduct regression testing following production incidents, validate customer-requested enhancements, and verify system stability during the first 90 days and beyond.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Healthcare IT, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of QA/test engineering experience in healthcare IT, medical device, or industrial automation (pharmacy automation, robotic systems, or similar hardware-integrated software environments preferred).
  • Hands-on experience designing and executing FAT/SAT protocols for complex, hardware-integrated systems. Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or similar).
  • Proficiency in software tools such as MS Teams, Salesforce, Visio, and industry-specific platforms.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, database concepts, and HL7/NCPDP healthcare integration standards.

At Capsa Healthcare, we recognize that great people drive with great results. That's why we offer a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support you professionally and personally, including:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays

  • 401(k) with company match
  • Company-paid Life, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability insurance
  • Voluntary Short-Term Disability, Supplemental Life, AD&D, Accidental Injury, and Hospital Indemnity insurance
