Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations through preliminary interviews, assessing clients' emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial well-being from the initial consultation to treatment completion.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans that align with the unique needs and goals of individuals, couples, families, and groups, utilizing evidence-based approaches.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, providing a safe space for clients to explore their feelings and experiences.
  • Continuously monitor and document client progress throughout the treatment journey, making adjustments as necessary to optimize outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate interventions and ensure holistic care.
  • Manage referral processes to link clients with additional resources, such as psychiatric support or specialized therapies.
  • Assist families and caregivers in understanding and navigating the challenges associated with mental health disorders.
  • Utilize electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, to maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client interactions and progress.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will engage with a diverse patient population experiencing various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. Your proactive approach will help clients develop coping strategies and enhance their resilience, ultimately steering them towards recovery and a more fulfilling life.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as either a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts.
  • A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that facilitate effective interaction with clients and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills characterized by empathy and the ability to build rapport with clients and families.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience working as a mental health counselor with hands-on involvement in therapies related to addiction disorders and co-occurring conditions.
  • Familiarity with the best practices of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and an understanding of medications prescribed by specialists.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, specifically AVATAR, to document and track client care efficiently.
