Job Description
National Account Manager, Retail
Reports to: TBD • Location: Remote with significant travel • Full-time, Exempt
About Korrus
Korrus is transforming the way people interact with light. We are the leader in human-centric lighting, built on more than 500 patents in spectral and circadian technology, and pioneers in Human Light Interaction, the next frontier in human health and wellness.
That work runs on three fronts:
Ecosense. A globally known and respected leader in architectural and commercial lighting, and the business now bringing circadian technology into the spaces where people work, heal, learn, and gather.
OIO. Our consumer brand, bringing circadian lighting into the home: biologically aligned light, the right spectrum at the right time of day, to support how people wake, focus, and rest.
Everything else in Human Light Interaction. We are pushing the limits of what light can do for human health and performance, and we own the intellectual property to do it.
The role
Korrus is taking healthy smart lighting into national retail, and we need an experienced retail sales leader to own it. You will build, open, and manage relationships with national retail accounts at the retail and lighting nexus: home improvement, mass, club, consumer electronics, e-commerce, and specialty lighting retail. This role is built on relationships: we are hiring the buyer network you have already earned, and the mandate is to convert it into placement across a broad set of national retail outlets beyond the accounts already in motion.
This is a builder role, not a caretaker role. You will take a new category, circadian and healthy smart lighting, into buying organizations that have not stocked it before, structure vendor programs from first placement through chain-wide assortment, and own the sell-through economics that earn expanded distribution. Retailers are increasingly leaning into health and wellness, and you will be the person who turns that interest into placement, programs, and purchase orders.
Responsibilities
• The national retail account portfolio: prospect, open, and grow accounts across home improvement (Home Depot, Lowe's), mass (Target, Walmart), club (Costco, Sam's Club), consumer electronics (Best Buy), specialty lighting retail (Lamps Plus, Lumens), and additional outlets designated by leadership.
• Retailer onboarding end to end: online and marketplace programs, direct-fulfillment programs, 1P vendor relationships (vendor number setup, retailer-issued purchase orders, retailer-owned inventory), fulfillment-based availability programs, and chain-wide shelf assortment.
• The e-commerce channel alongside brick and mortar: pure-play e-commerce retailers, retailer .com assortments, marketplace and retail media programs, and digital content and reviews that drive conversion.
• The retail scorecard: sell-through rate, customer availability and in-stock rates, return rates, and product review health, and using that performance to earn expanded placement.
• Line reviews, category presentations, and buyer meetings: building the business case for a new healthy lighting category with merchants focused on health and wellness.
• Manufacturer rep firms calling on national accounts: directing their engagement, sample programs, and follow-up cadence.
• Vendor program structure and negotiation: pricing, terms, freight and allowances, and promotional participation including signage, vendor days, training and demo days, end caps, and cross-promotions.
• The internal handshake: partnering with demand planning, supply chain, and marketing on forecasts, inventory, and retail-ready packaging and content so retail commitments are executable.
• Account plans, pipeline, and forecast reporting for leadership, plus market and competitive intelligence from the retail channel.
Requirements
• 7+ years of national account sales experience selling consumer products into major US retailers, with lighting, smart home, or consumer electronics category experience strongly preferred.
• Pre-existing, deep, and current relationships with buyers and merchandising organizations at national retailers in the lighting or adjacent categories, for example Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe's, Target, Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, Lamps Plus, and Lumens. This is a hard requirement: you should be able to name the buyers you would call in your first month.
• A demonstrated record of opening new accounts and taking new products or categories from first placement to chain-wide distribution.
• Fluency in retail vendor operations: 1P vs marketplace economics, EDI and purchase order flow, planograms, ladders and DC delivery programs, freight terms and allowances.
• Strong retail math: sell-through, weeks of supply, customer availability and in-stock metrics, margin and program cost analysis.
• E-commerce fluency: experience growing retailer .com and pure-play e-commerce accounts, including content, search, and retail media levers.
• Experience managing manufacturer rep firms and multi-stakeholder buying organizations.
• Strong negotiation, presentation, and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior merchants and to executive leadership.
Preferred
• You have launched a new or emerging category at retail: smart home, connected devices, or health and wellness products.
• You have worked inside a retailer's health and wellness merchandising initiatives.
• You understand app-connected hardware and the role the digital experience plays in retail sell-through.
• You have coordinated retail media, marketplace, and 1P strategies across the same retailer.
To Apply
Send us your resume and, in two or three sentences, tell us about a retail account you personally opened and what the first placement became. We are especially interested in the relationships you would bring on day one.
Logistics and compensation
• Full-time, Exempt
• Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000
• Location: Remote with significant domestic travel to retail partner headquarters and stores.
• Reports to: TBD
