Summary
Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Food and Beverage; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations command (CNIC); NBK Bremerton

Duties
Help
  • The purpose of this position is to provide driving services for a passenger bus and other vehicles that may be used to support Trip and Tour services in support of the Recreation program. Incumbent operates oversized motor coaches on long-distance trips, which may involve interstate and a combination of day and night driving. (Most trips will be nights and weekends).
  • Incumbent will operate and perform operator maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 lbs. May operate one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks and van trucks.
  • Responsible for making operational inspections of vehicles for loose parts, damaged or worn tires, battery condition, and similar items.
  • Responsible for inventory of items such as tools, first aid kits, emergency equipment, etc. Incumbent will also ensure the comfort and wellbeing of passengers to the greatest extent possible with equipment available.
  • Incumbent observes applicable safety, sanitation rules, and regulations. Incumbent must keep trip records, logs, comply with safety and training requirement, and adhere to all state, local and installation traffic laws and ordinances.
  • Assists with loading and unloading materials; and assures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity by check cargo papers and visual observations.
  • Completes preventive maintenance service records; fills out driver's accident report, in case of accident.
  • Performs driver's maintenance in accordance with the established rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties assigned.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading and unloading vehicles.
  • Moderate physical effort is required in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 20 pounds, and the occasional handling of objects weighing over 70 pounds while loading and unloading cargo.
  • Must be 18 years old or older.

Qualifications
  • Must be skilled in handling the controls for starting, stopping, backing and driving the vehicle.
  • Must know the height, width, length, and weight of vehicles driven to judge overhead and side clearances, turning radius, braking distance, and the safest distance to be maintained from preceding vehicle.
  • Must know safety rules and regulations and other posted rules for moving vehicles, and how to load cargo onto the vehicle, arranging it in such a way as to provide the best support and to prevent its shifting or falling.
  • Must know or be familiar with reporting requirements and procedures applicable for preparation of service records, and accident reports. Must know driver's maintenance requirements and procedures for the vehicle being driven.
