AspectRemote Long Distance Van DriverLocal Delivery Driver
CredentialsDriver's license, clean driving recordDriver's license, possibly additional certifications for specific delivery types

Remote Long Distance Van Drivers typically operate over long distances, often across states or regions, requiring overnight stays and extended hours. Both roles require a valid driver's license and good driving records, but their work environments and daily routines differ significantly.

What are some of the main challenges remote long distance van drivers face, and how can they be managed?

Remote long distance van drivers often encounter challenges such as extended periods of isolation, unpredictable weather or road conditions, and strict delivery deadlines. Effective time management and regular communication with dispatch or support teams can help mitigate these issues. Many employers also encourage drivers to use digital tools for route planning and to maintain a healthy work-life balance by scheduling regular breaks and rest periods. Building a reliable routine and staying connected with fellow drivers through company networks can further help reduce feelings of isolation.

What does a remote long distance van driver do?

A Remote Long Distance Van Driver is responsible for transporting goods or passengers over long distances, often between cities or states, using a van. While 'remote' typically means working independently or away from a central office, in this context it can also refer to planning routes and communicating with dispatchers or clients using digital tools. Drivers must ensure timely, safe delivery while adhering to traffic laws and maintaining their vehicle. They may also load and unload cargo, keep delivery records, and perform routine vehicle inspections.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote long distance van driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Long Distance Van Driver, you need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), a good driving record, and knowledge of road safety regulations. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and basic vehicle maintenance tools is typically required. Strong time management, reliability, and excellent communication skills help drivers coordinate with dispatchers and customers. These skills ensure timely deliveries, safe operations, and high customer satisfaction across long routes.

  • Conduct detailed move consultations to assess inventory, scope, and logistics

  • Prepare and present accurate, competitive estimates for local and long-distance moves

  • Proactively follow up to convert leads into booked moves

  • Generate your own leads through networking, outreach, and relationship building

  • Develop partnerships with realtors, apartment communities, HOAs, brokers, builders, senior living communities, and relocation professionals

  • Actively prospect and hunt for new business opportunities

  • Educate customers on the benefits of moving with a Bekins-affiliated agent

  • Track all activity and communication within the CRM

  • Meet and exceed monthly booking and revenue goals

  • Partner with operations for a seamless transition from sale to execution

  • Deliver a high-trust, consultative sales experience

What Success Looks Like

  • Rapid response time to new inbound leads

  • Strong close rate on qualified opportunities

  • Consistent self-generated pipeline in addition to company-provided leads

  • Accurate estimates with minimal post-booking adjustments

  • Strategic follow-up and relationship management

  • Positive customer reviews and referral-driven business

  • Growth of local referral and professional partner networks

  • Achievement of monthly booked revenue and margin goals

What We're Looking For

  • 1+ year of inside or outside sales experience

  • Moving, logistics, relocation, or home services experience preferred

  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills

  • Confident communicator with excellent objection-handling ability

  • Comfortable working in CRM systems and sales pipelines

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Competitive, goal-oriented, and self-motivated

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • Professional presence and a consultative sales mindset

Compensation & Benefits

  • Paid training with base compensation during an initial 90-day ramp-up period

  • Transition to 100% commission-based compensation with uncapped earning potential

  • Company-provided leads plus opportunity to build your own book of business

  • Car allowance provided upon meeting monthly booked revenue minimums

  • High-performing consultants have significant six-figure income potential

  • Unlimited Time Off

  • Retirement plan with company matching

  • Career growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding company

  • Team-oriented, high-performance culture

  • Opportunity to represent both a trusted local brand and a nationally recognized van line

Why Lifetime Moving & Storage?

  • Family-owned and operated company with a reputation for exceptional customer service

  • Phoenix's local agent for Bekins Van Lines

  • Local, interstate, long-distance, storage, and specialty moving services

  • Strong marketing support and lead generation

  • Growth-focused leadership team committed to employee success

  • Clear path for advancement as the company continues to expand
